Job Descriptions:

The fruit and vegetables processing(drying) trainer will play a key role in building the capacity of smallholder farmers and community members in fruit and vegetable processing drying techniques while mobilizing local communities, IDP and refugee returnee to actively participate in sustainable fruit processing practices. The fruit and vegetable processing(drying) trainer collaborate closely with the project team, beneficiaries, and market to produce high value dried vegetable, fruit and dairy products, and create value to enhance livelihood situation of beneficiaries by developing new methods of vegetables and fruit drying including solar drying, mechanical drying, and dehydration trough providing essential tools, education program and market access. This position requires a high level of knowledge and practical experience in fruit and vegetables drying to have dried fruit and vegetables products and adding value for those crops.

Job Requirements:

  • Coordination with different stakeholders.
  • Holding awareness session to inform the prospective opportunity to the beneficiaries.
  • Beneficiary selection by Kobo and face to face interview.
  • Evolving training material and providing fruit and vegetables processing skills training.
  • Providing technical information for preparing fruit and vegetable raw materials and toolkit for the beneficiaries.
  • Teach best practices in food hygiene, quality control, and preservation techniques.
  • Demonstrate the use of solar dryers, dehydrators, and other relevant equipment.
  • Train farmers, youth, and women’s groups on modern fruit and vegetables practices.
  • Monitoring and mentoring of fruit and vegetables processing activities.
  • Support the establishment of capacity building for a cooperative for fruit and vegetable processing BNFs.
  • Conduct market research to understand consumer preferences and high valued dried fruit and vegetables.
  • Provide and support market linkage.
  • Preparing educational training material for fruit and vegetable processing.
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned for reporting and knowledge sharing.
