Job Overview:
The Supervisor/Community Liaison (WASH) will oversee and coordinate the implementation of WASH construction facilities (such as latrines, handwashing stations, and water supply systems), ensure community engagement in hygiene promotion, and support hygiene kit distribution. This role serves as the key link between the technical WASH team and the target community, ensuring culturally appropriate and sustainable practices are applied.
Job Description
Generic Responsibilities:
- Adherent to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
- Promote and share ideas for improvement.
- Perform according to the work and development plan.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Organize and conduct field-level assessments to identify water, sanitation, and hygiene needs within target communities.
- Plan and implement KAP surveys to gather baseline data and assess community hygiene behaviors and awareness.
- Facilitate structured hygiene sessions on safe drinking water, latrine usage, handwashing, and personal/environmental hygiene practices.
- Oversee the planning, logistics, and fair distribution of hygiene and water kits to selected beneficiaries in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure that all WASH activities are aligned with community needs through continuous engagement and participatory approaches.
- Supervise and ensure quality and timely implementation of water and sanitation facilities (e.g., latrines, water points) in the field.
- Train and mentor community volunteers or water management groups on basic repairs and maintenance of water facilities.
- Compile and share detailed daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports with the WASH Officer, highlighting achievements, challenges, and next steps.
- Collaborate in the implementation of integrated projects as per guidance from supervisors, ensuring coordination between WASH and other sectors.
- Undertake any other responsibilities or tasks delegated by the supervisor, contributing to the overall success of WASH programming.
Job Requirements
Generic Professional Competencies:
- University Degree in (Civil Engineering and Water Resource Management).
- Two Years Relevant Experience in community-based projects with NGO/INGO.
- Previous work experience with satisfactory performance in the same or similar functional area preferably with UN or INGOs.
- Experience in assessment and data collection.
- Experience from working within assessment expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Core competency expertise.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and confidence to undergo household visits.
- Computer literacy to be able to work on smart phone-based data collection applications.
- Good facilitation skills.
- Good communication skills and experience in participatory methodology.
- Innovative, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Willing to accomplish each day’s work with the supervisor by the end of each day.
- Knowledge or using KOBO Collected at smart phone.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Fluency in English and local language Dari/Pashtu.
- Able to express your ideas clearly and confidently in speech.
- Able to act on initiative, identify opportunities & proactive in putting forward ideas & solutions.
