Economic Recovery Assistant

ABOUT THE JOB

The main responsibility of this position is to be functional in the targeted communities for delivering the Economic Recovery and emergency services. The Economic Recovery Assistant will contribute for assistance of beneficiary and field coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting rapid sectorial needs and market assessments in the field.
  • Regularly monitoring field activities and provide timely inputs and feedback to the Economic Recovery Team Leader.
  • Assess the potential of the community to establish a community-based support system for the vulnerable cases.
  • Data collection by using needs assessment, identification of beneficiaries and data collection to be done either via paper forms or through digital equipment; (KOBO)
  • Ensure liaison with communities, maintaining links with community elders, engaging consistently with beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders in the field.
  • Conduct training, awareness sessions and any other activities in the field as part of the implementation plan.
  • Beneficiary selection processes
  • Coordinating, conducting  EcRec field distributions (Cash and NFIs)
  • Produce basic report on distributions, success stories and case studies with beneficiaries.
  • Closely liaise with Economic Recovery Team Leaders to seek synergies and ensure holistic program implementation and act as back-up of other staff in his/her absence. 
  • Be able to explain the different types of assistance delivered at field for beneficiaries and other actors to the relevant DRC staff.
  • Support the implementation of agriculture activities including (Distribution of seeds, tools, and other agricultural inputs).
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • At least 1 year of experience in humanitarian work is required, with prior involvement in IDP or natural disaster response. Additionally, a minimum of 1 year of experience specifically in emergency response cash and voucher activities is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required on projects targeting urban and peri-urban vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated experience to organize sessions and mobilize communities
  • Demonstrated experience in projects including cash and in-kind for the most vulnerable crisis affected population.  
  • Computer skills, particularly MS Office; Excel and Word
  • Able to travel to the hard-to-reach communities in the districts.  

Ideal candidates have:

  • Strong skills in community mobilization, sensitization, and facilitation.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working in emergency and fragile contexts.
  • Familiarity with local authorities, crisis-affected populations, and emergency responses involving both cash and in-kind support.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive market surveys.
  • Solid understanding of humanitarian principles and the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) on Quality and Accountability.
  • Capable of organizing and delivering awareness sessions, with specific expertise in hygiene promotion and “Know Your Rights” education..

Education/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, agriculture engineering, Social and Economic field  or related subjects is an asset

  • Dari (Fluent)
  • English (Advanced)
