Project Summary:

The purpose of Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA) is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes. Assistance for Families and Indigent Afghans to Thrive (AFIAT) aims to improve health outcomes for the Afghan people, particularly for women of childbearing age and children under five years of age in rural and peri-urban parts of the country.

Job Description

Position Summary:

The AFIAT Researcher will assist with data collection, including conducting interviews and identifying potential respondents under the oversight of the AMELA technical team and the direction of the Team Lead. The Researcher will also assist with data analysis as needed. The estimated level of effort for this position is up to 40 days. This position will not require travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist data collection, including conducting key informant interviews and group discussions.
  • Analyze collected data.
  • Assist the Team Lead with drafting deliverables and analytical products as required from USAID.
  • Participate in presentations if needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in conducting research in the social science field is required.
  • Experience living and working in Afghanistan.
  • Experience and expertise in conducting research on healthcare assistance programs preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Afghanistan's local languages, such as Dari and Pashto, are required.
