The head office of the organization is in Kabul, Afghanistan and delivers humanitarian services in the sectors of WASH, Good Governance, and Livelihood through its regional offices in Mazar, Herat, Jalalabad, and central zone in a decentralized manner.

Job Description

  • Identify potential risks to children and adults in all the project activities and report them to PM.
  • Closely coordinate with PM, to improve Safeguarding practices.
  • Support Line manager in delivering mandatory and refresher training on anti-harassment, Bullying, code of conduct and PSEA.
  • Conduct regular visits to project sites of UAMs and partners, to ensure that SG reporting system is working, and beneficiaries know how to report SG cases.
  • Update local SG reporting tracker regularly.
  • During field visits ensure that all child and adult safeguarding concerns are reported effectively in line with the policy.
  • High levels of professional safeguarding behavior and maintain the standards required by the Safeguarding Policies and Code of Conduct.
  • Holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modelling Save the Children values.
  • Widely shares their personal vision for Save the Children, engages and motivates others
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships, with colleagues and other Safeguarding officers,
  • Develops and encourages new and innovative solutions

Job Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in social work, Communications, Law, Education or relevant professional qualification.
  • Good data management, data analysis, computer literacy and excellent documentation and report writing skills in English are necessary.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of child safeguarding, child protection, gender, PSEA or SGBV
  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information as well as facilitate training to a wide and diverse audience
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights, as well as of Help the Afghan Children’s aims, values and principles.
  • Ability to take a proactive approach to problem solving, to recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
