Job Summary

WAW`s Kunduz Office is seeking applications from eligible candidates for the position of Social Organizer, GBV/Legal Assistance Project, covering Kunduz province in the northeast region.

The main responsibility of the social organizer is to ensure that people in need are provided with legal community mobilization to help communities understand the scope of the project.

Legal assistance includes (a) legal awareness raising by sensitizing displaced communities and families on their fundamental rights and procedures to access legal and civil services (particularly on family, civil and HLP matters such as evictions); (b) individual counseling; (c) facilitation of the issuance of ID documentation and facilitating their access to other critical civil documentation such as birth certificates and Tazkira

The position holder (Social Organizer) will be responsible for disseminating legal awareness messages and information to target communities based on approved IEC materials. They will ensure that people are sensitized about their legal rights and how to access services and legal documents. The position holder will be based in the WAW Provincial Office in Kunduz city, with frequent travel to project target areas to implement routine activities; likewise, the position holder will also have official travel to other provinces based on need.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality implementation of legal awareness to the target populations.
  • Participate actively in TOT for legal awareness provided by UNHCR/WAW.
  • Ensure to increase legal awareness by sensitizing displaced communities and families about their fundamental rights. Likewise, sensitize POC and host communities about the project activities.
  • Ensure to access legal and civil services (particularly on family, civil, and HLP matters such as evictions).
  • Conduct GBV awareness raising/information sessions and other relevant topics in target communities engaging men, women, persons with disabilities, and other population groups in target locations.
  • Actively identifying and following up on the GBV case.
  • Identify the community structures, and will engage with men, women, boys, girls, persons with disabilities, etc. to promote a reliable communication network for the implementation of activities for women and girls in target locations.
  • Referral of cases in need of legal counseling or aid to the legal officers and Team leader.
  • Track the number of sessions conducted desegregated by gender to ensure the accuracy of the number of persons who received awareness sessions.
  • Support the Team leader in capturing several sessions and the number of persons of concern covered for the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Inform persons of concern of WAW CFRM, AAP, and PSEA policies and reporting mechanism
  • Participate in relevant meetings as requested by the team leader
  • Perform data collection for safety audits, and impact evaluations.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in law or Social Sciences
  • minimum of 2 years of social work experience, community engagement, and/or community mobilization, particularly in the field and in a complex environment
  • Previous experience with Legal Assistance projects in Afghanistan is an added value
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Solid Computer skills and competency in Word, and Excel are a minimum
