Job Descriptions:

Job Porpuse

This is a full-time, grant-funded Health Assistant (FHH) position under the FCPA Project based in Herat. The FCPA project seeks to contribute to decrease morbidity and mortality in women and girls including PLWD in Herat province of Afghanistan. FCPA will affect medium term change in communities by providing equitable, inclusive and safe access to health and nutrition services for high-risk groups. This will encompass providing lifesaving health and nutrition services for populations not covered by BPHS, engaging diverse actors to deliver integrated malnutrition treatment in communities and health facilities. She is responsible to assist the implementation of Health and Nutrition project including the “Family Health Houses” at community level as well as to assist the Project Officer in planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring of the project in the targeting areas. she will have to work closely with Project Officer to ensure standards of project activities are compliant with requirements of the ministry.

 

Main Responsiblities

Provide support to the FHHs for conducting the barrier analysis to the FCPA project targeted location in Herat city.

Make sure the designated project midwives particularly those deployed under the FHHs, their knowledge and skills are up to date.

Make sure the FHHs graph both performance and target are very well written and updated accurately on monthly basis.

Make sure the FHH health education and community engagement plan is in place. 

Make sure the equipment in the FHHs are working well.

Mobilize the target communities on the health component of the project.

Ensure health care providers fulfil the IPC requirements and the working environment is disinfected thoroughly, and waste management system is in place.

Assist the Health and Nutrition Officer to ensure the health facilities receive timely support.

Support the midwives in FHHs to reduce delivery complications to decrease mortality of mother and child. Asses the solution to increase the targets group of the health centers.

Coordination and meeting with health shuras, FHAGs and CHWs to increase the productivity and protection of FHHs.

Implementation of the standard programs based on the MOPH guidelines.

Presenting on job trainings to midwives on recording accurate partograph.

Collect and file the project health related data (FHH registers, treatment lists, Nutrition reports medicine stock cards) and share with the health and nutrition officer.

Collecting and reporting the HMIS and other FHH related reports to the respected department in timely manners (MIAR, FSR, Medicine consumption report, DWES, NFDs etc)

Identify the capacity building needs of the health personnel in the target area.

Support the Health and Nutrition Officer/health sector focal points in providing training to staff

Ensure high quality and appropriated MCH and other health related material printed and installed/distributed.

Support and sensitize staff and community on referral system or severe cases patients.

Report to the health and nutrition officer any changes in disease or health conditions in the operational area, and report potential outbreaks

Assist the Health and Nutrition Officer to implement other health centers in the project if required. Supervise the distribution of essential medical, nutrition and non-medical supplies for its respective Family Health Houses.

Based on pharmacy reports, inform the health and nutrition officer of any types of medical and nonmedical supplies required for the respective project.

Assist on developing the monthly consumption reports of the medical supplies, which is required to be submitted to the Pharmacy Assistant.

Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards. Adhere to WV accountability standards.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

Gynecologist or Graduated from standard midwifery degree is mandatory.

Midwifery related training certificate

Demonstrable experience in child protection, child rights

Understanding of Child Protection issues.

Understanding of Gender issues

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to engage with different stakeholders and partners in the project site.

Must have good attention to detail, all work must be checked

 

Experience

At least 2 years’ relevant experience in the health programming with the proven midwifery background, experiences on the midwifery education program is preferred

 

Personal Skills

Should be familiar with culture and respect culture of people.

Strong monitoring and report writing skills

Interpersonal, management and conflict resolution skills.

Communication skills and knowledge of local communities

Languages empowerment (Dari – Pashto)

Flexibility for work.

Knowledge of child rights
