Job Descriptions:

Background

The ILO Afghanistan commenced to implement the Road to Sustainable Livelihoods, Employment and Decent Work project (R2SLED) in the Northern Region of Afghanistan.   In this initial phase of the programme, the ILO propose to implement enterprise development interventions in the sesame, grapes and raisins and carpet sectors.

The programme will conduct in-depth market systems analyses for i) sesame and ii) grapes and raisins value chain. Meanwhile, the project will pilot interventions recommended in the sesame value chain analysis that was previously conducted by UNDP. Furthermore, the programme will design and implement innovative business models based on recommended interventions from the Carpet Sector Market System Analysis that was conducted by ILO in partnership with UNHCR. The project will target and work with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) willing to co-invest and share the risk with ILO in implementing MSD-based innovative business models that would increase participation of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged women, youths, and persons living with disabilities. in the target value sesame, grapes and raisins and carpet value chains. The project will provide financial support to the partner MSME as an incentive to work with the target group. The MSME will financially invest in the proposed activities to demonstrate business viability and local ownership. hosting returnees and IDPs. In addition, the project is open to new communities.

Target

The International Labour Organisation is implementing a UNDP-funded Road to Sustainable Livelihoods, Employment and Decent Work project (R2SLED) in the Northern Region of Afghanistan. The project will target Twenty (20) participants drawn from the Balkh & Samangan provinces.

Development of Business Coaching/Mentoring Training of Trainers

 

The R2SLED project would want to develop Business Coach/Mentor trainers in the Balkh & Samangan Provinces. The candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for coaching and mentoring the MSMEs. The training will address constraints hindering economic empowerment activities and support them to avoid the closing of businesses.

The International Labour Office (ILO) has designed and tested responses to these challenges. Programmes like the ILO’s Business Coaching/Mentoring have demonstrated promising results in addressing solutions to business problems for MSMEs for their sustainability in the market.

Business Coaching/Mentoring is one of the raising business management training programmes. It helps small-scale entrepreneurs not give up and find solutions for challenges and problems they face for sustainability in the market. Qualifying candidates will be selected to join the two-week course “Business Coaching/Mentoring Workshop” and are expected to become successful business coaches for MSMEs and conduct field coaching after the Workshop.

This Workshop is the first step in obtaining the certification as a Business Coach/Mentor. It will be facilitated by ILO certified Master Trainer and will introduce participants to both the technical content of the relevant Business Coaching and to methodologies.

The objective of this workshop is to enable Business Coach/ Mentor service providers to achieve organizational goals as well as MSMEs goals for the businesses. The course will enable the participants to:

  • Get a detailed understanding of the steps in introducing Business Coaching/Mentoring.
  • Understand the key differences in target groups and learning objectives of Business Coaching/Mentoring.
  • Identify different strategies for marketing the services for specific target groups.
  • Be aware of the best practices in managing Business Coaching/Mentoring Services.

 

Job Requirements:

Qualification and Work Experience:

  • A College Diploma and or bachelor’s degree in any related field is an added advantage.
  • At least 1-year of experience in training adults or running a business will be an added advantage.
  • Participants with experience as a business consultant providing services to SMEs and entrepreneurs.
  • Participants with experience as a trainer of adults and youth using participatory methodologies.
  • Participants with a good communication skill.
  • Participants should be fully committed to attending the entire Workshop.
  • Participants should be committed to support the implementation of the Business Coaching/Mentoring in Afghanistan
  • Participants should be proficient in English.
