Acted Afghanistan:

Acted is working in 20 provinces in Afghanistan around the country. These provinces are affected by natural and man-made disasters. Acted provides relief and emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by displacements, conflicts, or natural disasters, in the fields of agriculture, shelter, wash, and food security.

Job Descriptions:

Job purpose:

The Education in emergencies project officer will be responsible to assist the project manager on implementation of education in emergencies project. She/he is responsible to supervise the work of his team member Teachers Trainer and classes teachers daily performance, in addition to this, the EIE project officer will closely work with district and provincial authorities, local Shuras, SMS and PTAs to ensure that program implemented in a high quality standard and on best interest of children.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • She/he will assist project manager in establishing appropriate system/ mechanism to implement the bridging classes program in partnership with communities and district education authorities with the transitional center in Jalalabad.
  • Establish links among communities, hub school, MolSA and local stakeholders in order to maintain and strengthen good relationship for better implementation of the project interventions.
  • Participation in the external district level education meetings and represent the Transitional center activities in a proper manner.
  • Understand the purpose, rules and regulation of education in emergencies at the field level.
  • Regular contact with the established classes teacher’s ad holding discussion and meeting about problem they face, need identify and prioritized with a tentative possible solution, the meeting will be recorded through proper minutes with a copy in the field and in Kabul office.
  • Conduct project relevant trainings to TC personnel and students caregivers.
  • Work closely with communities and lie department to improve the quality of learning and access to basic education for out of school children.
  • Supervise the work of community mobilizers, teacher trainers and classes teachers and provide them technical support in project activities delivery.
  • Organize monthly and bi-monthly meetings of SMS, PTA and with teachers and record the meeting minutes in proper manner.
  • Arrange joint monitoring visits ongoing classes and protection activities to see and monitor the bridging classes. The findings would be share through a proper report.
  • Regular follow up of detailed implementation plan for all component of the project.
  • Support the site supervisor in implementation of the field work by having proper on job training and mentoring planning.
  • Closely coordinate and support the relevant activities of the project with field staff on timely manner.
  • Attend on project relevant meetings requested by line manager and provide update about progress of Nengarhar TC’s activities.
  • Curry out on job monitoring of project activities, with AME and maintain accurate record, analysis, facilities and assist in monitoring and evaluation of project activities with support of Acted and other stakeholders.
  • Report project work progress information to project manager after completion of each monitoring and evaluation process.
  • Collect information for EiE project database on regular basis from the field.
  • Assist teachers and PSS counsellor in identification of training needs and in organizing training workshops for targeted project beneficiaries.
  • Organise and lead participatory workshops/meeting in village for implementation of TCs program and project relevant activities.
  • Provide necessary administrative support in facilitation of workshops and seminars for potential stakeholders and beneficiaries in the area of lesson learned, experience sharing and challenges.
  • Assist the project manager in producing of project progress reports quarterly reports, and annual reports and or as per donor reporting schedule.
  • Keep record of relevant monthly and quarterly progress reports of the project.
  • Curry out any other relevant task assigned by line manager and project team.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in education or humanitarian sectors.
  • Strong understanding of education in emergencies and child protection principles.
  • Proven experience in community engagement, stakeholder coordination, and capacity building.
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring staff, preferably in field operations.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and values.
