Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. A committed team of more than 600 experts are working in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to achieve AFGA goals and objectives. AFGA provides health services to the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities through over 140 service delivery points.  

About Hospital:

AFGA is in the process of establishment of a 20-bed hospital in Kabul, aimed at providing quality Reproductive Health services to mothers and newborns. The hospital will be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, facilities and staffed by experts.

As part of a long-term development plan, hospital services will continuously expand, serving as the central hub for AFGA outreach and small Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to refer patients needing advanced care. The hospital will adhere to national and international standards for patient safety and quality service, ensuring it meets the needs of target communities.

Job Descriptions:

Summary of the job:

He will be responsible for keeping, storing and distribution of the medicines and consumables to the wards and should know about the expired medicines in pharmacy and in wards.

Responsibilities

 

  • He will be responsible to the hospital pharmacist his duties which shall include the following:
  • To the full responsibility of the hospital pharmacy management including all items and other related equipment.
  • To ensure that all medicine and commodities are kept in such a condition that medical supply not be damaged while in store, and to ensure security of medicine and other medical supply in the warehouse.
  • He will receive medical items from main central warehouse or vendors, report on received quality and quantity of the commodities, maintaining clean and pest free storing condition, ensure good warehousing practices, supervise the off-loading and stocking of the commodities.
  • He should apply FEFO and FIFO policies in the pharmacy
  • Keep updated records on stock cards and computer inventory list, prepare pharmacy report and submit to the respective authorities.
  • He should track all the needed medicines and consumable in the hospital
  • He should know about the availability of medicines
  • Arrange medical supply within pharmacy in accordance with national and international norms and standards.
  • To keep the temperature sensitive medicine in a control temperature place (refrigerator)
  • He should know what medicines are not available in the pharmacy
  • He should know about the stock of medicines
  • Clearly record all items entered to the pharmacy and record all items excluded from the pharmacy.
  • Make sure that all items and materials are professionally stored in pharmacy room.
  • Ensure a proper filling system of relevant store and pharmacy records.
  • He should follow the pharmacy database for accurate and on time report generation
  • Will be responsible of collecting and registering of the all medicines
  • He will be responsible for the distribution of the medicines to pharmacy according to the rules, collecting accurate and on time of data from the IPD and OPD pharmacies
  • Follow up of appropriate and on time preparing of hospital medicines and consumables
  • Assist pharmacists in reviewing medication orders for accuracy and completeness. 
  • On time reporting of next to expired and short date medicines to the pharmacist
  • Communicate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare providers to clarify medication orders as needed
  • Assist hospital pharmacist in preparing of monthly and quarterly consumption reports.
  • Should have information about the essential medicines
  • According to the need perform 24 hours duty base on schedule prepared by hospital
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations related to pharmacy operations.
  • Follow up of implementation and applying of standards strictly
  • Strictly applying the IP and wearing the uniform in official time

Job Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Should have 2 years of pharmacy diploma
  • At least 2-3 years of experience after graduation in hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical abbreviations, and the names/uses of common medications
  • Excellent communication, Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Should have skill of computer (Word and Excel)
  • Fluent in national languages and should know English
