Currently, ASCEND is delivering the Development of Families' Health through Health Education program in Kabul. This program aims to enhance the overall well-being of participants by promoting health awareness, providing essential mental health support, and fostering resilience within communities.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:


The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the financial management and administrative operations of ASCEND, working under the direct supervision of the Country Director. The role entails ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations, managing accurate financial reporting, overseeing tax compliance, and implementing efficient and effective administrative processes to support the organization’s goals and objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Manage cashbooks, bankbooks and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Facilitate compliance with financial regulations and ASCEND policies.
  • Handle payroll processing, including preparing salaries for bank transactions.
  • Prepare tax forms and ensure timely tax payments to government authorities.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate records of organization assets, including calculating depreciation and ensuring proper asset management.
  • Perform internal audits and collaborate with external auditors to ensure effective financial monitoring and compliance
  • Perform regular budget analysis to ensure financial resources are allocated effectively and align with program objectives
  • Implement financial and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Manage administrative operations, ensuring compliance with organizational and labor laws.
  • Represent ASCEND as directed and support its mission and core values.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, BBA, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in finance roles at NOGs
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience with email and file management systems, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Strong understanding of financial management, reporting, and tax compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
