People in Need’s Afghanistan country program started in November 2001, providing emergency food distribution in mountainous areas of the central highlands. 20 years later, the program has visibly grown and diversified, but continues to promote PIN’s core values: envisioning a world where people are free to make decisions about their lives; a world where people are not restricted by an un-free society, poverty, lack of education or discrimination. Today, we work along the humanitarian and development spectrum, providing immediate aid supporting the most vulnerable in Afghanistan to find long-term solutions to the challenges they face.
PIN Afghanistan is seeking experienced WASH engineers to deliver a humanitarian response project in Malistan and Ajiristan districts of Ghazni Province. The Engineers will be will be responsible for implementing the WASH side of the project in line with PIN project management quality standards. S/He will be also responsible for providing technical support to the field team to ensure all construction work of project infrastructures are done according to the design and drawings and have smooth progress as per project timeline and requirement and timely reporting on progress. He is also responsible for providing technical guidance and support to WASH facilitators involved in implementing the Hygiene Promotion activities of the WASH component of the project.
The selected engineers will have strong technical understanding of humanitarian response, humanitarian intervention, water security and hygiene, and proven experience successfully delivering WASH projects in shock prone areas where access is sometimes a challenge.
Responsibilities:
The WASH engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following work areas and duties:
Ensure establishment of water user/management groups/committees per each village for project sustainability and proper operation & maintenance of infrastructure ensuring that women’s representation is considered. Ensure that WMC get enough on-site practical training during construction phases of work in order to get technical orientation of all constructed parts.
