World Vision International (WVI) began emergency relief operations in Afghanistan in 2001 by addressing the urgent needs of children and families affected by natural disasters and decades of conflict. More than a decade later, World Vision Afghanistan’s (WVA) programs have expanded to development sectors such as health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, and education, empowering women to engage in civil and social change through interfaith partnership.

WVA targets the most vulnerable in its interventions; including children, women, Internally Displace Persons (IDPs), and returnee refugees, as well as the most impoverished and marginalized families. These priorities have been chosen to contribute to our Goal of: “Improved survival and well-being of Afghan girls and boys, building the foundations for a better future for Afghan children and their communities.” 

Our work is well established in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Faryab provinces in the western region of Afghanistan. We work closely with all levels of society including children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, provincial departments, and other national and international agencies.

JOB PURPOSE: 

The CBF will facilitate effective implementation of the Faith and Development activities in Herat. S/he will facilitate all
the relevant trainings, events and gatherings and community dialogues on faith related activities, WVA Child and Adult
Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Incident Preparedness Plan are conducted timely in the respective provinces.
This position is only for females because the trainings are conducted for female faith leaders and female teachers.
According to the rules and regulations by the de-facto authorities, training should be conducted gender separated, so
a female trainer can hold training for females.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Engage and facilitate assessments on
knowledge, attitude and practices on
harmful traditions in the target
communities.
▪ Support female faith leader forums to follow
up on community dialogues on harmful
attitudes and cultural practices facilitated by
trained faith leaders within the target
district.
▪ Support FFLFs through organising regular
coordination meetings with key district level
faith leaders to follow up on progress of
action plans developed by trained faith
leaders addressing harmful cultural/social
practices
▪ Assist faith leaders forum to organize
quarterly coordination meetings to discuss
and address feedback from the district level
community consultation meetings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor Degree in Social Science or any related field.

Required Professional Experience.

Demonstrable experience in child protection, child rights
• Strong monitoring skills
• Interpersonal, management and conflict resolution skills.
• Communication skills and knowledge of local communities.
• Knowledge of MS Office and statistical programs

Required Language(s)

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) knowledge of the local language.

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations.

The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically to project sites.
