The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) is a member-based solidarity organization that has been working in support and solidarity with the Afghan people for more than 35 years. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) has a zero tolerance of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) both within the organization and of beneficiaries. Prevention of and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) is the individual and collective responsibility of all NAC officers, management, staff, consultants, and volunteers, who are all required to familiarize themselves with, agree to, and act in accordance with NAC’s Ethical Guidelines and Commitment, NAC Child Protection Policy, and NAC PSEAH Policy, at all times – both during and outside working hours – and participate actively in introductory and refresher trainings. Specific tasks and responsibilities
Technical Tasks
Fabricates and assemble prosthetic/orthotic devices, including component parts, sockets, suspension systems to be designed by Category I or Category II professionals
Performs bench alignment of the device to the specifications of the Category I or Category II personnel
As direct or assists the Category I or Category II personnel in fitting and aligning activities with patients/users
As directed performs finishing operations on prostheses and orthoses, including the use of alignment transfer tools and equipment
Reports any pertinent information regarding the device to the prosthetist/orthotist
Take part in follow-up procedures in respect of maintenance, repair and replacement of the appliance
responsible for the care and economical use of laboratory materials, equipment and tools
Training Responsibility
Supervise and take part in the training of individuals in Category III (technicians/bench workers) and provide hands-on support when required
Take part in and contribute to the process of continuing professional development
Keeps abreast of new developments in materials, tools, equipment and processes, which apply to his duties in the laboratory
Inter organizational relation
Promote gender equality, non-discrimination about ethnic, political and religious background
To participate actively in workshops, seminars & conference organized by the NAC management
Relation with external agencies
To participate actively in ensuring broad understanding and acceptance by local communities of the DP projects and NAC in general
To actively ensure community participation in DI program
Specific Deliverables
Take responsibility for your own work and honestly seek to achieve organizational and personal objectives and groups.
Provides patient/user care within a recognized prosthetics/orthotics code of ethics.
Provides patient/user care, which complies with medical/legal requirements
Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician/Bench Worker (Category III), in direct assistance to the prosthetist/ orthotist or orthopedic technologist, fabricates and assembles prosthetic/orthotic devices and takes part in their maintenance, repair and replacement
Languages Required:
fluency in Dari and Pashto, both written and spoken. And Familiar in basic English
