Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Project Manager to oversee and supervise various projects in different provinces of Afghanistan. The Project Manager will be responsible for reviewing contractor submittals, work plans, quality control (QC) plans, and ensuring that all aspects of the project align with the technical specifications and contractual requirements. This role involves managing the performance of contractors, ensuring that all work is performed to the required standards, and maintaining quality and safety across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Contractor Submittals: Evaluate and review contractors' submittals, including design documents, work plans, quality control plans, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
• Work Plan Review: Assess and approve the contractor's work plans, ensuring that they are in line with project goals, timelines, and resource allocations.
• Quality Control: Review and monitor the implementation of quality control plans, ensuring that all works are carried out according to the highest standards and meet both local and international quality requirements.
• Supervision and Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and field visits to assess the progress of construction and ensure that work is being executed in line with the approved plans and specifications.
• Contractor Performance Monitoring: Ensure that contractors are adhering to project schedules, cost estimates, and quality standards. Address any discrepancies or issues promptly.
• Problem Solving and Reporting: Identify project issues and risks and take corrective actions as necessary. Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Documentation Management: Ensure all project-related documentation, including contractor submissions, site reports, and progress updates, are maintained and properly filed for reference and compliance.
• Coordination: Act as a liaison between contractors, the project team, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and the timely execution of the project.
• Compliance with Standards: Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines during project execution.

Job Requirements:

• Education: Master’s degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as PMP or others are highly preferred.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years of experience in supervising or managing construction projects, ideally in Afghanistan or similar regions.
  • Proven experience reviewing contractor submittals, work plans, quality control plans, and related documentation.
  • In-depth understanding of construction project processes, from planning to execution, with an emphasis on quality control and contractor management.
  • Familiarity with working in multi-province or remote locations and managing multiple project sites.

• Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of construction management practices, including work plan and QC plan reviews, scheduling, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Proficient in reviewing and understanding technical documents, including design drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to ensure quality, safety, and compliance on all project sites.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, construction management software, and other relevant tools.

  • Knowledge of local construction codes, safety regulations, and environmental laws.
  • Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto is a plus.
