Job Descriptions:

  • Purpose of the Position

    The health education officer will develop, conduct, and supervise health education programs for Community Health Workers. Provide health education plan and routinely awareness for clients of Hfs, and provide education plan for HFs key health workers in primary health care. The role will ensure client are knowledgeable, skilled, and confident in delivering high-quality primary healthcare, and family healthy behaviors and based on MdM, and WHO PHC standards interventions

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Supervision of Health Education Activities

  • Accompany CHWs and other staff involved in health education during their daily activities.
  • Provide continuous technical guidance and on-the-job support on health education topics and methodologies.
  • Supervise CHWs in coordination with the Hospital CHS and Health Facility head of clinics .
  • Conduct regular supervision and review meetings to discuss challenges faced by CHWs and identify solutions.
  • Contribute to the project action plan by proposing relevant health education activities and improvements.
  • Ensure MdM procedures and national health education guidelines are properly implemented.
  • 2. Quality of Practice

  • Ensure a non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive, and gender-responsive approach in all health education activities.
  • Ensure smooth implementation of health education activities according to the agreed plans and schedules.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality of health education sessions through direct observation and feedback.
  • Participate in the creation, review, and adaptation of health education and IEC materials.
  • Contributes to the design, dissemination, and proper use of health education tools.
  • Identify key health education messages in collaboration with CHWs, MdM supervisors, and health facility staff.
  • Discuss health concerns with patients, caregivers, and community members.
  • Conduct continuous assessment of health education needs at health facility and community levels.
  • Prepare health education plans based on the identified needs of patients, families, and communities.
  • 3. Training and Capacity Building

  • Organize and conduct health education training and capacity building sessions for CHWs and other identified staff.
  • Identify training needs through assessments and feedback from the field.
  • Facilitate health education trainings for relevant staff when required.
  • 4. Coordination

  • Coordinate health education activities with health facility staff and MdM team members.
  • Contribute to initiating partnerships with local stakeholders whenever possible.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the quality of health education components of the project.
  • Report challenges, gaps, and issues related to activity implementation to the line manager.
  • Ensure effective communication within MdM teams and with health facility staff.
  • Participate in MdM internal meetings and coordination forums.
  • 5. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Collect, compile, and analyze weekly and monthly health education data.
  • Monitor the quality and coverage of health education activities and implement corrective measures when needed.
  • Prepare health education activity reports and contribute to donor, assessment, and internal reporting requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in health education or community health programs.
  • Experience working with NGOs and community-based programs is an asset.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt messages to different audiences.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Basic computer skills.
