Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and adapting assigned health and/or nutrition projects in line with MdM strategies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles. The role ensures quality program delivery, effective team management, and strong coordination with stakeholders.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • To manage and plan the implementation of a program.
  • To evaluate and adapt a program in accordance with its logical framework and guidelines (donors, MdM)
  • To lead and manage a team, building cohesion and motivation.

 

 Main Activities

  • Project Management
  • Translate the intervention strategy into activities.
  • Supervise and monitor resources
  • Contribute to the development of the intervention strategy, make proposals for adjustments.
  • Establish and monitor program dashboards.
  • Evaluate and implement corrective actions.
  • Supervise the collection and quality of data, and compile, analyze and monitor indicators.
  • Organize monitoring meetings and discussion workshops.
  • Supervise and monitor processes and procedures (donors, MdM, local legislation)
  • Represent the program both internally and externally (as per line manager instructions).
  • Develop and lead a network, identify, and evaluate partners.
  • Manage information flows (internal and external) and communication about the program.
  • Analyze activity reports from MdM and/or partner teams.
  • Draft activity reports.
  • Contribute to the work of capitalization, needs analysis and impact studies
  • Participate in advocacy work.
  • Plan, manage, and oversee project implementation in accordance with approved proposals, logical frameworks, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress, analyze indicators, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures in coordination with Finance and Logistics teams.
  • Ensure compliance with MdM procedures, donor regulations, and local legislation.
  • Supervise data collection, quality assurance, and use of evidence for decision-making.
  • Lead, manage, and support program staff, including performance management and capacity building.
  • Coordinate with NGOs, UN agencies, authorities, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent MdM in coordination meetings as delegated.
  • Contribute to needs assessments, mission strategy development, project proposals, and donor narrative reports.
  • Ensure integration of cross-cutting issues including gender, protection, and accountability.
  • Monitor context and security developments and ensure compliance with MdM security protocols.

 

  • Team Management
  • Manage and lead a team (information, setting objectives and action plans, monitoring activities, managing recruitment, leaves, appraisals, discipline, security, training, skills management)
  • Plan and monitor activities and implement corrective action where necessary.
  • Advise, arbitrate, and support measures to be taken in the event of difficulties, malfunctions, and incidents.

 

  • Reporting and Internal Communication
  • Draft donor report of assigned project.
  • Participate in MdM internal meetings.
  • Contribute to elaborate Weekly Sitrep with the Coordination team.
  • Ensure regular information sharing and collaboration with the Coordination team.
  • Participate in donor's activity reports and proposals drafting.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Public Health, Medicine or Nutrition.
  • Master’s degree in Public/Global Health or Humanitarian Studies is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in humanitarian project management preferably with medical organizations and in humanitarian crisis contexts.
  • Experience with health/medical NGOs and multi-donor projects preferred.

Main skills

  • Advanced knowledge of project cycle management and team management.
  • Proven experience in health and/or nutrition programming.
  • Understanding of the Afghanistan healthcare system is a must.
  • Ability to define and analyze indicators.
  • Capacity to understand and analyze the context.
  • Ability to take quick decisions according to the context in coordination with the team.

  • Ability to have a global overview of a program.
