Job Descriptions:

  • To Supervise Community Heath intervention training activités for Community Health Workers (CHWs).
  • To Conduct Community sessions and mobilise the Community for engagement in Primary Health Care (PHC).
  • To Implement éducation, Prevention activistes, and referral services.
  • To establishment and roll out screening programs for Children Under 5 (CU5) and Mother using MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circonférences) mesurément.
  • To Strengthen Community platforms and Promote participation in national Community évents.
  • Promote quality Community mapping for éducation activités and train best Heath practices.

Purpose of the Position

The CHW Trainer will develop, conduct, and supervise training programs for Community Health Workers. The role will ensure CHWs are knowledgeable, skilled, and confident in delivering high-quality primary healthcare, health education, and community outreach services in line with MDM standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Training Development & Delivery
    1. Design and update training curricula and materials for CHWs, aligned with MDM’s health programs and local health priorities.
    2. Conduct interactive, practical, and culturally sensitive training sessions for CHWs on topics including maternal and child health, nutrition, disease prevention, hygiene, and first aid.
    3. Use participatory training methods to ensure skill retention and effective knowledge transfer.
  2. Capacity Building & Mentorship
    1. Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and supervision to CHWs in the field.
    2. Monitor CHWs’ performance and identify areas for improvement, providing constructive feedback and support.
  3. Monitoring & Evaluation
    1. Develop training assessment tools to evaluate CHWs’ knowledge and skills pre- and post-training.
    2. Maintain accurate records of training, attendance, and CHW performance.
    3. Support reporting of training activities to the Project Manager.
  4. Coordination & Collaboration
    1. Collaborate with local health authorities, community leaders, and MDM staff to ensure training aligns with community needs.
    2. Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning for health education initiatives.
  5. Compliance & Quality Assurance
    1. Ensure all training and CHW activities comply with MDM policies, national health guidelines, and security protocols.
    2. Promote ethical conduct, gender-sensitive approaches, and inclusivity in all training sessions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nursing, Community Health, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in community health, training, or health education, preferably with NGOs in Afghanistan.
  • Proven experience in training and capacity building of CHWs.
  • Strong knowledge of maternal, newborn, and child health, nutrition, and community health strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; fluency in Dari and/or Pashto.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
