Job Description
- Conduct on-the-job training sessions on silkworm rearing, cocoon production, and basic silk processing techniques for beneficiaries.
- Provide practical demonstrations on proper feeding, care, and management of silkworms to ensure healthy growth and high cocoon yield.
- Conduct daily follow-up with BNFs and record the status and development of silkworm larvae.
- Train beneficiaries on cocoon harvesting, handling, and storage techniques to maintain quality.
- Demonstrate silk extraction and basic reeling techniques to ensure efficient extraction of silk filament.
- Develop and implement training plans and schedules for trainees involved in sericulture activities.
- Conduct daily follow-up with beneficiaries (BNFs) to monitor silkworm rearing and record the condition and progress of the worms.
- Ensure trainees understand quality control standards for cocoon production and silk processing.
- Train beneficiaries on the proper use and maintenance of sericulture equipment and tools.
- Promote safe and hygienic practices in silkworm rearing and silk extraction activities.
- Maintain records of training attendance, silkworm rearing progress, and trainee performance.
- Support beneficiaries in developing small-scale sericulture enterprises to improve livelihood opportunities.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of training materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely implementation of training activities.
- Provide follow-up mentoring and technical advice to trainees after the training sessions.
- Submit daily, weekly, and final reports on training and field activities to the supervisor or project manager.
- Perform any other duties related to sericulture training and project activities assigned by the supervisor or project manager.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Sericulture, or a related field, or a Diploma in Sericulture with relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in sericulture, silkworm rearing, or cocoon production.
- Practical knowledge of silkworm rearing, cocoon production, and silk extraction techniques.
- Experience in training, coaching, or community capacity building is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate technical processes clearly and effectively to trainees.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Strong organizational, monitoring, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work respectfully with community members and beneficiaries.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project districts or field locations when required.
