Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. AFGA is a fully accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and an important partner of UNFPA.
A committed team of more than 600 experts are working in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to achieve AFGA goals and objectives. AFGA provides health services to the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities through over 140 service delivery points.
About Hospital:
AFGA is in the process of establishment of a 20-bed hospital in Kabul, aimed at providing quality Reproductive Health services to mothers and newborns. The hospital will be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, facilities and staffed by experts.
As part of a long-term development plan, hospital services will continuously expand, serving as the central hub for AFGA outreach and small Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to refer patients needing advanced care. The hospital will adhere to national and international standards for patient safety and quality service, ensuring it meets the needs of target communities.
Job Description
Job Summary:
AFGA is providing quality health services through its 10-bed mother and newborn hospital in Kabul with the close partnership of MoPH and the project donor. The MNH community mobilizer, under the direct supervision of the MNH manager, will be responsible for the improvement of targeted communities’ awareness about available services in the MNH hospital. These aims will be achieved through various activities, including messages within targeted communities, visiting community gatherings, and distribution of IEC materials regarding the AFGA activities, particularly MNH activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Preparation of the MNH beneficiaries mapping through the comprehensive review of the coverage areas and existing services in the areas.
- Development of the hospital community mobilization plan in close coordination with AFGA communication and hospital management, with consideration of the gaps and opportunities.
- Regular visit of the targeted communities for disseminating the messages and information regarding MNH services.
- Conducting a gathering of community members for information communication regarding MNH services in the targeted communities.
- Contributing to the hospital business plan activities in close coordination with AFGA communication and hospital management through the distribution of the hospital brochure and other promotional materials in potential areas.
- Collection of the hospital clients' feedback regarding the provided services and client satisfaction, documenting that feedback, and recommending AFGA management for certain changes.
- Providing regular updates and reports regarding hospital community mobilization efforts.
Job Requirements
- Graduated from a well-known university in the field of social science or another relevant field.
- Having at least two years of proven experience in the field of community mobilization with national and international NGOs.
- Prior experience in the field of health project community mobilization will be a plus point.
- Strong communication skill is required.
- Basic skills and knowledge of report writing is must.
Fluent in Dari and Pashto languages.
