Anesthesiologist or Anesthesia Technician

The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) is a non-governmental and non-profit national NGO that was founded in 1995 by Dr. Sakena Yacoobi to provide education, training, and health services to vulnerable Afghans.

The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) believes in a community-based, tailored, holistic approach that provides access to health care and education.

Currently, across 11 provinces, AIL runs 44 Learning Centers, 6 health clinics, and 14 village-based Community Health Worker posts.

The Anesthesiologist or Anesthesia Technician is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort by administering anesthesia and monitoring patients before, during, and after medical procedures. The role involves close collaboration with surgeons and medical staff to deliver effective pain management and life-support care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patient’s medical history, allergies, and risk factors
• Develop anesthesia care plans based on patient condition
• Explain anesthesia procedures and risks to patients
• Prepare equipment and medications for anesthesia
• Administer anesthesia (general, regional, or local)
• Monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels)
• Adjust anesthesia levels to maintain patient stability
• Manage airway, ventilation, and emergency situations
• Collaborate with surgeons and operating team
• Monitor patient recovery from anesthesia
• Manage and control post-operative pain
• Ensure patient stability before transfer or discharge
• Document anesthesia procedures and patient response

• Relevant diploma/degree in anesthesia (recognized by Ministry of Public Health)
• 5 yeras linical experience in anesthesia or operating room
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia drugs and techniques
• Ability to monitor and interpret vital signs
• Critical thinking and quick decision-making
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under pressure
