- Receiving the medical and nutrition commodities form the CARE international in Afghanistan provincial office.
- Assist the HF doctor in management of pharmacy including updating stock cards, consumption reports and preparing other pharmacy related documents and formats.
- Screening of 24-59 months children and PLW.
- Admission and discharge of the Children and PLW in the OPD-MAM and OPD-SMA program according to the admission criteria.
- Prepare the monthly OPD-MAM and OPD-SAM report.
- Organize/conduct regular health education sessions base on daily health education plan and pass health messages regarding nutrition to clients and communities.
- Participate in mass campaigns and public awareness activities.
- Provision of the dressing, injection and IV fluid administration to the patients.

- Coordinate with Members of the sub health centre (SHC), and the Provision of Essential Life-Saving Healthcare Services to Underserved Populations Affected by Earthquakes in Herat Province staff.
- Key Results Expected
- To work as part of the CARE International SHC Teams.
- To accurately screen and appropriately treat or refer beneficiaries in the health & nutrition program by adhering to national and international guidelines and organizational procedures.
- To provide nutrition health and hygiene education and MIYCN counselling to pregnant and lactating women and care takers of children.
- To ensure accurate record keeping of all activities following the provided data collection templates.
- To ensure safe storage and handling of the stock (nutrition commodities, medicines, medical supplies, and equipment)
- Maintain HF pharmacy and medicines related records including regular updating of medicines stock cards, consumption reports and other formats and registers.
- Assist the SHC medical doctor in general OPD, medicine dispensary, and updating different register books.
- Provide dressing services for trauma and injuries cases.
- Nursing care such as injection and IV fluid administration for those cases which required.
- Sterilization of dressing sets.
- Support the nutrition counsellor in performing OPD-SAM, OPD-MAM, Growth Monitoring, and Nutrition Education.
- Support the nutrition counsellor in the process of service delivery and coordination,
- Filling of OPD-SAM/MAM register books as required.
- Oversee the requesting distribution and return of nutrition stock (food medications equipment) and accurately complete the stock management protocols/forms.
- Provide accurate and appropriate follow up including assessment and treatment of all beneficiaries.
- Distribution of RUTF RUSF and Super cereal based on the supervisor advice.
- Update RUTF RUSF and other Supplementary food (Super Cereal Flour) consumptions.
- Regular update of files (OPD-SAM treatment Cards referral sheets from community & follow up
- cards).
- Regular submission of food distribution report on daily Weekly and monthly basis.
- Admit beneficiaries to OPD SAM or MAM according to admission criteria.
- Observe appetite test and support care takers in feeding the children.
- Examine admitted children and pregnant and lactating women and provide appropriate nutritional and medical treatment following National IMAM and other guidelines where necessary.
- Examine admitted children for any signs of co-existing illnesses and provide appropriate nutritional and medical treatment or referral according to any necessary guidelines.
- Cooperate the doctor in distribution of medicine to the patients.
- Administer Vitamin A if the child has not received Vitamin A supplementation during the previous NID.
- Encouraging mothers to receive Iron Folic Acid (IFA) during lactation and pregnancy.
- Identify pregnant and lactating women and care takers that require Infant and MIYCN and other nutrition or health counselling and provide this support to them.
- Give appropriate nutrition health and hygiene education to the beneficiaries and care takers in individual and group sessions.
- Discharge children and pregnant and lactating women according to specified discharge criteria.
