Pashtany Bank was established in 1333 (1954 CE) during King Mohammad Zaher Shah regime with an initial investment of AFG 120 million. Mr. Janat Khan Gharwal was appointed as the first president.

Pashtany Bank is a State Owned bank and is registered with the Central Bank (Da-Afghanistan Bank) under the commercial banking license to operate nationwide. The Bank has been operating as one of the leading commercial banking service provider in Afghanistan.In 2007, during the regime of Hamid Karzai, the name of Pashtany tejaraty bank was changed to Pashtany bank at the instance ofMr. Hayatullah Dayani the CEO of Pashtany bank. 

The Human Resources Department wishes to announce that we have vacancy for the following position with minimum requirement.

Job Descriptions:

  1. The SB shall guide and advise the BoS and BoM as per procedure prescribed in Guidelines on Shariah Resolutions for Islamic Finance by the DAB, on matters concerning the financial arrangements and transactions to be made or undertaken or proposed to be made or undertaken by the bank or on behalf of the bank, in so far it relates to the conduct of Islamic banking  by the bank, in order to ensure that such financial arrangements and transactions are not in conflict with the Injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quran and Sunnah;
  2. SB shall ensure that the following documents of the Islamic financing are in conformity with the rules and principles of Shariah:
  • All products and services of Islamic finance.
  • Related agreements/contracts.
  • Structures of Transactions.
  • Process flows.
  • Product manuals.
  • Marketing advertisements.
  • Sales illustrations and Brochures etc.
  1. The SB shall advise the BoS and the executive management of the bank on all Shariah related matters.
  2. SB shall respond to such queries and references as may be referred to on questions related to Islamic Banking and other Shariah issues relating to the performance of the bank.
  3. The SB shall submit a half early report to the BoS on the operations of the bank to the extent of its Islamic financing that it had remained in conformity with the injunctions of Islam and served Islam’s socio-economic objectives and values.
  4. The SB shall conduct and oversee such training and orientation programs, seminars, and workshop for personnel of the bank as may be needed for the purpose of Islamization and improvement of the operations and the performance of the bank.
  5. The SB should arrange workshops, seminars, and conferences for general public to enhance their awareness about Islamic finance practices, besides focus on Shariah compliance of services and products.
  6. The SB shall perform an oversight role on Shariah matters related to the bank’s operations and activities through the observations and reports from the Shariah compliance and shariah audit unit by identifying possible Shariah issues, if any, and propose the necessary corrective measures.
  7. The SB shall review the internal shariah audit report, any other Shariah audit or inspection report on Shariah compliance for prescribing appropriate enforcement actions.
  8. The SB shall, based on the work of Shariah Audit, Shariah Review, prepare an Annual Shariah Compliance Report on bank’s Shariah compliance environment and conditions. The report shall be signed by all the members of SB to be published in Annual Report of the bank.
  9. The SB shall in consultation with the management appoint qualified person as Shariah Advisor (hereinafter referred to as “SA”) to provide guidance/advice in day-to-day Shariah related operational matters.
  10. The decision of SB so far it relates to the determination of the rules and principles of Shariah relevant to the operation, modes of financing and transactions of the bank, shall be final and binding.
  11. The SB shall be responsible and accountable for all its Shariah decisions.
  12. In addition to the abovementioned duties and accountabilities, the members of the SB are expected to observe other relevant provisions herein contained.
  13. SB shall ensure development of a comprehensive Shariah compliance framework for all areas of operations of the bank.
  14. SB will ensure that Islamic Modes used by the bank comply with the essentials prescribed by the DAB. SB will also ensure that Islamic Modes, for which essentials have not been prescribed by DAB, comply with AAOIFI Shariah Standards as far as these are not in-consistent with the approvals of SB and DAB instructions/ guidelines.
  15. The SB shall review and approve the scope, methodology, Internal Shariah audit manual and format of Internal Shariah audits, Furthermore, the SB shall review the methodology and Internal Shariah audit manual at regular intervals.
  16. SB shall have unhindered access to all records, documents and information from all sources including professional advisors and Bank’s employees in discharge of its duties.
  17. SB shall attend training sessions, orientation programs related to legal and regulatory framework, banking, finance, treasury operations etc. arranged by the bank for them.

     

Job Requirements:
