Job Descriptions:

The Child-Friendly Space (CFS) Trainer will be responsible for overseeing the operation and activities of Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) within the designated area. The primary goal is to ensure a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children. This includes providing training and supervision to CFS facilitators, ensuring adherence to child protection standards, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to optimize the delivery of services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of Child-Friendly Spaces.
    • Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all children.
    • Develop and implement schedules and activity plans for CFS.
    • Monitor the implementation of activities to ensure they meet the developmental needs of children.
    • Ensure that all activities are inclusive and accessible to all children, including those with disabilities.
  2. Training and Capacity Building:
    • Conduct training sessions for CFS facilitators on child protection, psychosocial support, and activity planning.
    • Provide ongoing mentoring and support to CFS facilitators to improve their skills and performance.
    • Develop and update training materials and manuals as needed.
    • Organize refresher trainings and workshops for staff.
  3. Child Protection:
    • Ensure that all CFS activities adhere to child protection policies and standards.
    • Identify and respond to any child protection concerns, referring cases to appropriate services as necessary.
    • Promote the participation and inclusion of children in the design and evaluation of CFS activities.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans to assess the effectiveness of CFS activities.
    • Conduct regular site visits to monitor the quality of CFS services.
    • Collect and analyze data on CFS attendance and activities, and prepare regular reports.
    • Use feedback from children and parents to improve CFS activities and services.
  5. Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure support and collaboration for CFS.
    • Participate in coordination meetings with other organizations working in the same area.
    • Collaborate with other sectors, such as education and health, to provide integrated services for children.
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of CFS activities, attendance, and incidents.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on CFS activities and progress.
    • Document and share best practices and lessons learned.

Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in child protection, education, or related fields.
    • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or training role.
    • Experience working with children in emergency or humanitarian settings is an advantage.
    • Strong knowledge of child protection principles and practices.
    • Excellent training and facilitation skills.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team and stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
