Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

The Life Skill Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Livelihood Component under the Increasing Access to Mother and Child Health Services project that has been implemented in Baghlan, Samangan, Jawzjan Faryab, Daikundi, Balkh, Paktika, Kabul, Kunduz and Bamiyan provinces. The Life Skill Manager will be responsible for managing the overall implementation and management of the livelihood activities in the MCHCs of the mentioned provinces. He/she will be responsible for ensuring program implementation quality, developing, and designing work plans, monitoring, and supervising project activities to ensure project goals are met; managing and supervising project staff; coordinating and reporting to donors; and ensuring coordination with related programs in the IMC Afghanistan. The Life Skill Manager will have to ensure that the team including her/him is fully compliant with various organizational policies.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and accountable delivery of MCHCs vocational training
  • Help to improve the overall implementation approach and strategy development aligning with the MCHCs objectives.
  • Provide technical support to the Project Manager, developing the MCHCs implementation guideline for the field teams based on the project approach and strategies.
  • Facilitate development of MCHCs vocational training section quarterly and annual work plan by the implementation team and consolidate for submission to donors and follow-up implementation.
  • Ensure project delivery is aligned with IMC’s rights-based programming approach (HRBA) at all levels—from community to various stakeholders including donors.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, especially with the community elders at the central and provincial levels.
  • Facilitate the development of the M&E framework for the project by the M&E Coordinator, engaging all relevant stakeholders under ActionAid, AACRS, and Implementing partners.
  • Ensure the monitoring plan is implemented properly and reports are generated and shared with all stakeholders at an agreed interval with coordination of field team.
  • Work closely with the program coordinator to create synergies as applicable and adapt best practices of working with CDCs.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance, supervision, and support to all aspects of livelihoods on the program (including planning, budget management, implementation, and reporting).
  • Supporting and monitoring all the process of Cash/in-kind distribution including documentation, communication and compliance.
  • Manage overall operations and performance of livelihoods teams with a specific focus on compliant processes for effective livelihood support.
  • Development and implementation of livelihood assessment tools and approaches.
  • Provide capacity building and training to MCHCs livelihoods and other relevant staff.
  • Contribute to IMC’s regular meetings with stakeholders such as clusters and working groups to improve services at national and sub-national levels.
  • Identify and establish collaborative relationships with NGOs, the private sector, and relevant governmental agencies to broaden livelihood opportunities for project beneficiaries.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in business development or BBA, agriculture, economics or Social Science Master’s degree in mentioned field is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of similar position or role in Market Business/food security and livelihood Program development and implementation.

Competency:

  • Good conceptual thinking skills and an ability to develop diverse and innovative solutions to problems.
  • Good understanding of project planning and management cycles and experience of developing quality project report and other documents.
  • Good team building and communication skills.
  • Experienced in staff development and capacity building.
  • A very good team leader as well as team player and contribute to positive working team environment for effective project delivery.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately via English, Pashto and Dari.
