Safety and Risk Mitigation Organization (SRMO) is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-government NGO registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan since year 2013. We are a humanitarian organization working on capacity building, humanitarian assistance and providing psycho-social support and psycho-social training to the individuals and communities across Afghanistan.
We are looking for female psycho-social counsellors to work in the above-mentioned provinces of Afghanistan.
Job Description
The Psycho-Social worker will closely work with beneficiaries, families, and communities to provide psychological and social facilitation and consultation for beneficiaries of the project and to provide appropriate psychosocial sessions to identified persons or households in need, including children through family groups and individuals. She provides emotional support and guidance to parents who are facing difficulties in parenting their children.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide psychosocial support in health facilities and within outreach teams.
- Provide Basic and Accessible Psycho-social interventions and counselling
- Identify, establish, and strengthen referral pathways for clients to ensure they are linked to the needed services
- Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions.
- Help people to cope better and enhance their resilience in their everyday life.
- Help beneficiaries to resume their normal lives and mental well-being.
- Provide awareness sessions on services available and facilitate referrals
- Liaise with general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in capacity building trainings and implementing in the field/ community.
Job Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree required in a field related to the social sciences, psychology, social work, or counselling, Midview’s/ Nurses, Education.
- Holding psychosocial counselling diploma from any recognized organization/ institution.
Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum 1 year of work experience with bachelor degree and 2 years’ experience with diploma in psychosocial counselling in related role, Mobile health teams, Primary health care and with any NGO.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills.
Desirable:
- 1 year of experience working with an NGO.
- Fluency in speaking and writing in English
Competency:
- Fluency in local languages (Dari and Pashto) is required.
