Job Descriptions:

Position Overview:

The Senior Nutrition Officer will report to Senior Nutrition Advisor and will play a pivotal role in the set up and supervise the nutrition sites and activities. Ensure all nutrition activities and sites are functioning and have good-quality programming. This position requires expertise in nutrition, and coordination with various stakeholders. The Senior Nutrition Officer will ensure the effective delivery of nutrition interventions, adherence to standards, and achievement of Nutrition program objectives.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide technical guidance and support to field staff and partners on nutrition-related matters, including assessment, planning, and implementation.
  • Oversee the implementation of the IMAM and MIYCN services and community components of IMAM at the assigned HFs following national protocols.
  • Monitor Nutrition program progress, analyze data, and prepare reports to track key performance indicators and ensure program effectiveness.
  • Ensure that the TSFP FLA is updated for all projects and coordinate closely with WFP for the on time TSFP food supply.
  • Ensure the on-time SAM supply for all health facilities.
  • Collect, analyze, and submit the TSFP monthly reports to WFP and enter the MAM/SAM monthly data in the National Nutrition database.
  • Provide daily oversight and supervision of all activities at the assigned HFs using nutrition monitoring check lists.
  •  Conduct capacity-building activities (IMAM, MIYCN, CBNP), workshops, and trainings for nutrition staff and partners to enhance their knowledge and skills in nutrition programming.
  • Assist with supervision and on-the-job training of nutrition staff and community workers involved in the nutrition program.
  • Act as the health & nutrition focal point for nutrition field staff.
  • Review validate and submit weekly and monthly nutrition reports.
  • Ensure that all health facilities are well equipped and have enough nutrition equipment and nutritional commodities.
  • Coordination with UNICEF, WFP, WHO and other stake holders for the nutrition program.
  • Any other task given by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of nutrition concepts, including maternal and child nutrition, food security, and nutrition interventions.
  • Good Capacity building experience in nutrition sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education: 

  • Medical Doctor, graduated from a recognized medical university or graduated from Public Health.

 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in nutrition programming, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.

 

Languages Skills:

Fluency in spoken and written English, Dari, and Pashtu is a requirement.
