Job Descriptions:

To contribute to a reduced morbidity and mortality associated with malnutrition, diseases and hazards resulting from deficient (or non-existing) health and nutrition services, environmental health conditions and protection environment in conflict-affected communities in Kandahar and Kabul provinces – Afghanistan.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Clinical examination of all patients with signs of complicated pathologies or presenting complication or referrals from the nurse.
  • Prescribe routine and basic treatments according the protocol used in respecting the drug dosage based on the weight of the patient
  • Follow-up of the severe and complicated cases.
  • Adapt and change of medical treatment as required.
  • Collect the number of new admissions and exits and attendance based on the register.
  • Work in collaboration with the nurses and Midwifes to ensure quality medical care provision.
  • Work as a member of the team, taking in consideration the non-medical problems encountered by the patients (feeding and caring problems).
  • Complete and properly fill the individual card with the medical information.
  • Transmit clear instruction to the nurse on medical care and specific monitoring of the patient.
  • Screen children and PLWs for SAM&MAM and refer complicated cases to HFs.
  • Refer complicated cases of SAM and children illnesses to referral hospital.
  • Provide therapeutic treatment for beneficiaries in the third level of catchment areas around HFs as determined by the health program team.
  • Follow up program defaulters and provides treatment or refer to HFs.
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports and share with line manager timely.
  • Assist the program team on gathering monthly reporting data from supported HFs
  • Participate in the mobilization campaigns and collect the report form the CHWs
  • Raise regularly supply request to line manager and ensure securing of mobile team supplies including therapeutic food and drugs.
  • Work in collaboration with the mobile team members to achieve INTERSOS and MoH goal.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in medicine or other paramedical studies. Desirable degree in Public Health.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience as Medical doctor in the humanitarian sector
  • Experience with monitoring tools and systems in the health and nutrition sectors
  • English, Pashtu and Dari skills are required.
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
  • Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
  • Comply with all relevant INTERSOS policies and procedures.
  • Experience in trainings and capacity building / development of staff is desirable.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery point.
