About AWEC:

AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women.

Job Descriptions:

Objective

The Project Manager - Climate Change Harmony Building a Sustainable Tomorrow will lead project efforts to address climate change. This includes developing and managing initiatives aimed at mitigation, adaptation, and advocacy in response national environmental challenges. The Project Manager will work across multiple sectors and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the overall project activities
  • Coordinate with managing, organizing and conducting meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Meet regularly with the site teams to discuss, design and plan community outreach
  • Ensure timely preparation of work plans, budget forecast and activity plans
  • Prepare project related reports on a timely manner to Program Manager and donor
  • Ensure that the project is adequately staffed and the staff are assigned properly with clear job descriptions and line of authorities and responsibilities
  • Standardize job description of all project staff and ensure that they are updated regularly to best meet project implementation requirements
  • Keep good track of project budget and spending
  • Ensure that the project staff receive adequate training to enable them to fully meet the requirements of their jobs
  • Participate in the relevant cluster’s coordination meetings and share information with other agencies
  • Translate the project related documents when required
  • Conduct field visits based on project requirements
  • Conduct orientation workshops for the project staff

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Master’s & Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainability, or a related field.

Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in project management, specifically in climate change or environmental projects.

Proven ability to manage large scale projects and budgets.

Strong leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in the use of project management software.

Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the project’s geographic location.

Previous experience in policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement at the national or international level.
