About AWN:

After the United Nation Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China, where a group of women from various organizations and agencies of the United Nation participated; the theory to form a network for the Afghan women's cooperation and integration developed. With inspire from women's movement in different part of the world; finally, in 1995 participants (women) of the conference decided to establish Afghan Women’s Network (AWN).

Afghan Women's Network is the foundation for Afghan women's movement, which serves as a stable network for growth of those women's organizations they are active in the country.

Afghan Women's Network has active and considerable presence in Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Kandahar, Bamyan, Paktia, Nangarhar and Kunduz, and is also active through its member in other provinces of Afghanistan. Afghan Women's Network works as the umbrella for its member organizations. As well as projects related to issues (gender-based violence, strengthening of youth and education for girls) implement with coordination of its member. Afghan Women's Network has over then 3500 individual members and 140 women's organizations in its membership. The AWN envisions an Afghanistan in which women & men live in a justice and discrimination free society.

Job Descriptions:

 

    • The Project Manager will be responsible for supervising the project team as a whole- coordinate and oversee the work of the project team, including local staff;
    • Provide an overview of the humanitarian project, its objectives, target beneficiaries, and the broader context in which it operates;
    • Manage the day-to-day implementation of the project, ensuring activities are carried out effectively and efficiently;
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations;
    • Liaise with relevant government agencies, civil society organizations, AWN provincial focal points and community stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and partnership;
    • Support the Provincial Center/Offices Manager in identifying and addressing the capacity-building needs of the center's staff and local partners that would include development of a training plan for the relevant committees;
    • Facilitate regular project planning, monitoring, and reporting activities, ensuring transparency and accountability;
    • Identify and manage project risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies;
    • Represent the project at relevant meetings, workshops, and events, and serve as the primary point of contact for the donor and other external parties;
    • Contribute to the project's knowledge management and learning activities, and share lessons learned with the broader humanitarian community;

 

  1. Making sure of proper filling system both in soft and hard form for project under the project title, date and duration of the project

 

    • Initiate extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the project are identified or issues arise;  
    • Play a vital role in developing training manuals on various topics assigned by the Program Manager;
    • Be responsible for following & sharing/disseminating AWN/Donor Safeguarding policy along with financial policies (e.g. anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy) that aims to minimize the risk of staff diverting financial resources for personal gains, including safeguarding policies of donor’s and or AWN, with all participants/stakeholders (Upon receiving consent from SMT in HQ); 
    • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly narrative reports, progress reports until reports are finalized and accepted by the respected donor;
    • Perform any other related tasks assigned by line supervisor;

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA), Management, Project Management or any other related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project managment , preferable in the humanitarian or development of NGOs sector ;                                     
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and local communities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and support a diverse team.
  • Proven track record in budget management, financial reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including data collection and analysis.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for project management, such as MS Office, project management software, and data visualization tools.
  • Proficient in the local language(s) and English (both written and oral).
  • Understanding of the local context, including cultural norms, political dynamics, and humanitarian landscape, is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel within the province and occasionally to the regional office
