About HAPA (Humanitarian Actions for the People of Afghanistan)
Humanitarian Actions for the people of Afghanistan (HAPA) has been working since 1991 in the southern region (including Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul & Urozgan provinces). HAPA has main Office in Kandahar province located in Shahri Naw Chowk, District # 6 and sub-offices in (Helmand, Zabul, Nimroz, & Uruzgan provinces). HAPA has 50 permanent qualified staff members in the four offices of the southern region. HAPA remained the implementing partner (IP) for the following UN agencies (including UNODC, UN-WFP, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNOCHA) and international agencies such as (JICA, CIDA, DAI, and IOM in the past). HAPA has implemented numerous aid projects with the subject organizations in the past more than two decades.
Job Description
Position Summary:
Within the framework of HAPA's mission and objectives, the Social Mobilizer will be entrusted with the following key responsibilities:
- Organize and facilitate community awareness sessions in districts and villages as per the guidelines provided by the project manager.
- Compile and submit daily reports to the project manager regarding the progress and outcomes of awareness sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of participants and session details, including topics covered and feedback received.
- Conduct data entry of relevant information gathered during awareness sessions into the designated database or system.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify target beneficiaries and ensure their participation in awareness activities.
- Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the outcomes and impact of awareness sessions to the project manager.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, establish rapport with participants, and adapt facilitation techniques to suit diverse audiences.
- Directly liaise with the project manager to address any issues or challenges encountered during the implementation of awareness activities.
- Conduct surveys and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of awareness sessions and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data collected during surveys and assessments through careful examination and validation.
- Research and design innovative methods and materials for delivering awareness messages and promoting behavior change.
- Provide guidance and support to field staff involved in implementing awareness sessions, ensuring adherence to quality standards and protocols.
- Coordinate the procurement of materials and supplies needed for conducting awareness sessions, negotiating with suppliers to secure the best deals.
- Oversee the delivery, distribution, and utilization of educational materials, ensuring their safe transport and storage.
- Conduct regular inspections of stock levels and inventory to monitor supplies and prevent shortages or discrepancies.
- Follow up with participants and stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and maintain positive relationships.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the project manager to support the overall objectives and activities of the awareness program.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, public health, community development, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in conducting community engagement or awareness activities, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently, with a calm and composed demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Dari; knowledge of Pashto is desirable.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to field locations within the project area.
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
