NEI Mission

Since 2003 NEI has been developing a sustainable soy industry in Afghanistan as a practical solution to rampant malnutrition among Afghan women and children. NEI is a non-profit organization that implements programs using a corporate mindset, in a fast-paced working environment. We collaborate with many Afghan ministries and international food security organizations to provide nutrition to malnourished people. Our current development focus is to create a self-sustainable soy value chain, including seed production, soybean cultivation, soy processing, and market development.

NEI Food Testing Laboratory (NFTL) was founded by Nutrition and Education International (NEI) with a team of experienced professionals in the field of Food Science & Technology, Food Processing, Food Safety & Hygiene, Microbiology, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance.

• Manages all aspects of the Lab department operations effectively and efficiently.
• Oversees day-to-day operations, which include problem-solving issues and ensuring effective processing.
• Organizes and directs quality assurance functions in close cooperation with the customers and NEI’s management team.
• Develop and document department procedures to ensure consistent and accurate processing.
• Works with other departments to provide services and resources.
• Monitors workflow and departmental processes.
• Develops and maintains Lab policies.
• Coordination and liaising with other food processing companies, food importers, and exporters companies to promote Lab services.
• Develop NEI Lab businesses and market promotion through regular meetings with ACCI, MoIT, food processing companies, and government and non-government stakeholder organizations
• Test the samples and issue the report of analysis to customers.
• Train, supervise, and assist Lab technical staff and practical work in the lab.
• Set and achieve department goals and objectives.
• Report to the NEI HQ, program director, and donor if required
• Other tasks and activities per requirement.  

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical / Food Technology preferred
• At least five years of experience in Lab Management and business development
• Familiar with ISO17025.
• Fluent in English, Dari and Pashto
