Kandahar Refugee Organization (KRO) is a national level, non-political, non-profitable, non-governmental organization working for humanitarian and rehabilitation roots in Afghanistan. Further, KRO is an Afghan organization that is committed to the development of the local economy and building local capacity for sustainable development. Thus, we have an established specialized network in many provinces of the country in order to design, implement related activities in the field of food security, research, capacity building, disaster management, and placement.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical inputs and lead various assessments researches and assessments on child Projection.
2. Manage a diverse range of child Protection Programs funded from different sources while ensuring that the organization is not duplicating its work and providing holistic support to the children and beneficiaries.
3. Develop work plans and monitors progress and present monthly progress report to supervisor and donor.
4. Ensure effective documentation of program and progress by capturing lesson learnt and good practices.
5. Work with monitoring and Evaluation focal person to ensure that information related to child protection is stored analyzed and used by program support unit as well as the implementation team.
6. Continue to develop understanding on children’s meaningful participation throughout the program and develop/implement strategies to enable children to identify and address the issues of concern to them and promote their voices on local, regional and national levels.
7. With inputs from the finance unit prepare budget for project proposals and then prepare spending plan monitor them and prepare financial reports.
8. Undertake capacity building needs and gaps mapping for the child protection team and develop a capacity building strategy plan and ensure its implementation.
9. Mobilize internal and external capacity building opportunities and resources to ensure technical knowledge management within the team and provision of high-quality technical assistance in the area of child protection to program implementation team.
10. Develop and undertake specific trainings in child protection and PSEA for program implementation team and then ensure that the latter train children’s partners and community-based child protection network/Partners.
11. Developing concepts papers /Proposals for child protection project.
12. Review program documents Proposals Reports and detailed implementation plans to ensure that child protection issues and child rights approaches are integrated.
13. Represent the organization in child protection local and national forums.
14. Represent Kandahar Refuge Organization in protection cluster and all working groups on protection.
15. Develop proposals for CP emergency appeals and if need to be, to lead the child protection sub clusters and represent Save CP issues in the various other clusters.
16. Work with appropriate partners with in the child protection sector to ensure that children’s rights are considered in the process of legislation formation and institution building.
17. Report any child protection concerns related to KRO staff or consultants to his/her supervisors and opinions related to the implementation of the child protection policy.
18. Adhere to KRO’s code of conduct in professional and personal life and report breaches of the code to the appropriate persons.
19. Ensure personal commitment in building constructive working relationship with partners based on KRO’s principles spelled out.
20. Ensure timely coordination with Senior Management of KRO on Programme Implementation Progress and other related topics.
21. Regular joint visit to projects implementation provinces (Urozgan and Zabul) and provide feedback based on the findings.
22. Ensure best practices are adopted to ensure quality programme implementation,
23. Actively participate and contribute in exchange of knowledge and learning sessions organized for project team member’s capacity building
24. Ensure that all project staff are equipped with M&E systems like quality benchmarks billboards posters to exhibit M&E messages for activities.
25. Ensure action plans from quality monitoring and accountability systems are generated and implemented in timely manner in collaboration with M&E team.
26. Contribute to generation of lessons through finalizing issues for Operations Research and participating in lessons learnt workshops and provide report.
27. Ensure that project is reported against the M&E Plan.

1. 5 years project management experience, preferably gained within a development setting with an experience of working within a Child Protection team or on a Child Protection project Implementation with National and International Organizations.
2. Relevant university degree (preferably MA) in social work, social sciences, development or other relevant field (relevant and significant work experience will also be considered)
3. Excellent knowledge and skills in child rights, child protection, child/youth/community resilience, psychosocial support, community/youth development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.
4. Experience working with at-risk children and families,
5. Experience of remote managing programmes in complex settings
6. Proven capacity to coordinate, and coach staff in Child Protection skills and programme management
7. Experience of, commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
8. Strong knowledge of child protection principles, international standards and best practices.
9. Familiarity with the context and cultural dynamics of Zabul Province is highly desirable.
10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish effective working relationships with project staff, partners, and community members.
11. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
12. Fluency in English, Pashto and Dari is required, both written and spoken.
