About Position

Human Medical Laboratory (HML) is a comprehensive provider of laboratory testing, expert medical interpretation of specimens and innovation in laboratory technology. The laboratory plays an essential role in the quality and safety of patient care by providing accurate diagnostic services to caregivers, hospitals, laboratories and patients.

The Medical Receptionist (MR) performs a wide-range of tasks in the reception of the laboratory. Medical receptionists are expected to be compassionate and discrete with superb time management and record-keeping skills.

To ensure success, medical receptionists should be confident and professional administrators with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day administration of the healthcare facility. Top candidates will work comfortably under pressure while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and can effectively react to patient’s laboratory investigations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone and WhatsApp.
  2. Professionally assist doctors, staff, visitors, patients, and other clients.
  3. Answer all phone calls professionally and courteously.
  4. Perform all duties within Human Medical Laboratory regulations.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff, and patient information.
  6. Schedule appointments of the reports of the patients.
  7. Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism.
  8. Adhere to policy and procedures during all activities.
  9. Assist with departments as per agreed protocols.
  10. Ensure that stock levels of the reception are adequate and orders are made timeously.
  11. Communicate medical results to patients under clinical supervision.
  12. Complete accurate documentation of patient visits.
  13. Notifying providers of patient samples.
  14. Verifying financial records and collecting patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims.
  15. Scanning pertinent patient information into EMR including patient authorizations, recent labs delivered by patients.
  16. Issue specimen collection containers to patients as needed.
  17. Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary.
  18. Utilize our laboratory software to register patients for invoicing.
  19. Respond to emails that arrive using the laboratory-assigned email address.
  20. To perform procedures for collection of blood samples from patients (peds, adults etc.) when a phlebotomist is not available.
