La Chaîne de L’Espoir (CDE) is a French organisation which aims to provide access to healthcare to the most vulnerable children and women.

Since 2008, more than 10,000 patients benefited from CDE’s support for their treatment.
In 2022, CDE launched a pilot Nutrition project at FMIC, through the opening of an IPD SAM 12 beds, and now 16 beds, unit, plus 4 beds in ICU. In 2023 CDE also opened and OPD SAM / MAM at FMIC. Through a referral system with paediatric hospitals, both Kabul and provinces based, the IPD SAM unit is admitting patients who are suffering from complex pathologies and/ or medical complications leading to/caused by severe malnutrition.
