About WSTA
Watan’s Social and Technical Services Association (WSTA) is a Nonprofit and Non-Governmental Organization which was established in 1992 with the aim to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Afghan communities. WSTA is registered with the Ministry of Economy under license number 352, and with UNOPS office, based on code No. WON and registration No. OPS-CR-0535. WSTA is member of ANCB and ACBAR.
Since its establishment, WSTA has supported the most vulnerable and conflict affected men, women and children. We have partnered with UNHCR, UNOCHA, UNWFP, IOM, IRC, Care International, Australia Aid, Canada Fund and Relief International to provide humanitarian aid by over 200 projects implemented across 20 provinces of Afghanistan. With our headquarter in Kabul, we have 10 active provincial offices in Parwan, Bamyan, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Panjshir, Herat, Daikundi and active presence in Kandahar and Balkh. Currently WSTA has 400 active employees which includes 320 males and 80 females. WSTA provides livelihood, vocational training, education, shelter, water and food assistance to most vulnerable communities particularly women in Afghanistan.
Job Description
Watan’s Social and Technical Services Association (WSTA), as a partner of UNHCR in the Central Region (CR), Central Highland Region (CHR), and South Eastern Region (SER), has been implementing the 'Protection Monitoring of IDPs and Refugee Returnees.
Key Responsibilities
The Reporting Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management and reporting of project data. The primary responsibilities include:
- Data Collaboration and Reporting
Collaborate closely with Field Monitors to gather, analyze, and fulfill data and reporting requirements in alignment with the project description. - Report Development
Develop comprehensive reports, including emergency, post-emergency, integration, and return reports, tailored to project needs and utilizing appropriate reporting tools. - Progress Monitoring
Prepare and submit timely progress reports, including bi-weekly situation reports (sitreps), monthly reports, mid-year evaluations, and final project reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency. - Data Management System Enhancement
Assist in the design and implementation of a robust data management system that effectively meets project requirements and supports data integrity. - Quality Improvement Initiatives
Contribute innovative ideas and best practices to enhance the quality of data collection, data management processes, and reporting mechanisms in alignment with project objectives. - Communication
Maintain proactive and effective communication with UNHCR, UNOCHA, government departments, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and collaboration. - Capacity Building
Provide training and support to field staff on data collection methodologies and reporting standards to enhance overall project performance. - Monitoring and Evaluation Support
Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project impact and effectiveness. - Ad Hoc Responsibilities
Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager that align with project goals and objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a reporting officer/writer (preferably with NGOs).
- Strong management skills.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian context, particularly in Central Region provinces and Paktia.
- Understanding of humanitarian terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, along with proficient computer skills.
- Fluency in both local languages and English.
