Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

The Youth Educators work in Mother and Child Health Center (MCHC) to predominantly provide awareness on basic health messages focused on women and girls’ needs, work closely with Psychosocial counsellors to support women and girls holistically to meet their needs.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead Interactive, engaging teaching sessions ex. Discussions, games, activities that are youth friendly. 
  • Conduct health education sessions for adolescents and youth and their families.
  • Discuss Adolescents and Youth concerns with community members.
  • Prepare an awareness plan based on the needs of the patients and communities.
  • Lead child marriage structured programs including Girls Shine Module, and AMAL module.
  • Provide information around health and reproductive health that are age and culturally appropriate. 
  • Provide referral services to AY related to PSS or MHPSS
  • Support peer education programs and networks if applicable 
  • Assess the needs of adolescents and youth for health awareness and education including healthy lifestyles, reproductive health, and life skills. 
  • Based on the assessment, drafting the methodology and training/workshop schedule and submission to the IMC program team for approval.
  • Finalizing the methodology and training/workshop schedule including health education sessions, specialized youth programs, and specialized workshops. 
  • Report on the conducted training/workshops
  • Data collection and preparing monthly reports of the health education provided to the adolescents and youth Any other tasks assigned by her supervisor. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Safeguarding:

  • It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children and adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons.

Qualifications:

  • At least 12th Graduate and university graduate will be preferred.

Experience:

Essential:

  • At least one year work experience in, community mobilization or Social Work.

Desirable:

  • Local candidate will be given preference.

Competency:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English.
  • Ability to write short and concise reports.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Package (Word, Excel, Access etc.).
  • Willingness to travel to the field.

Relationships: Has good interpersonal relationships with (community leaders, supervisors, Community Focal Points etc.)

Teamwork: Committed to working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve project tasks for the team. Willing to learn from others and open to giving and receiving feedback.

Flexibility/adaptability: This requires the candidate to have sufficient capacity to adapt to the IMC work methodology as well as to different work environments (office and field) that the candidate might have later during a mission.

Proactively: It requires the capacity to take initiative in the development of technical and creative actions which improve results.
