Job Descriptions:

 

The Business Development Officer will play a crucial role in the Women Economic Empowerment Project aimed at enhancing the viability and sustainability of women-owned businesses in Herat province. The officer will be responsible for developing strategies and initiatives to strengthen livelihood opportunities for Afghan women through access to entrepreneurship skill development, financial literacy, digital literacy, and market support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development and Support:
    • Work closely with women entrepreneurs to assess their business needs and develop tailored business development plans.
    • Provide business advisory services, including support in business planning, market analysis, and financial management.
    • Facilitate market linkages and networking opportunities for women entrepreneurs to expand their market reach and enhance business growth.
  2. Entrepreneurship Skill Development:
    • Develop and deliver training programs on entrepreneurship skills, covering areas such as business planning, marketing, financial management, and customer relations.
    • Collaborate with local and regional experts to offer specialized training in relevant industries and sectors.
  3. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Track the progress of entrepreneurs in achieving business development milestones and financial goals.
    • Prepare regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and impact, ensuring that data is accurately collected and analyzed.
    • Contribute to the overall project evaluation by providing insights and recommendations based on field observations and data.
  4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, business associations, and community leaders.
    • Represent the project at local events, meetings, and forums to promote women’s economic empowerment and share project successes.
  5. Capacity Building:
    • Identify capacity-building needs for project staff and partners and organize relevant training and workshops.
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to entrepreneurs to build their confidence and capabilities in business management.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in business development, entrepreneurship, or economic empowerment projects, preferably in the context of women’s empowerment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and platforms, including e-commerce and social media.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto; working knowledge of English is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
