Job Descriptions:

The Head of Department (HOD) for the Faculty of Computer Science is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic direction and operational management of the department. The HOD plays a key role in shaping the academic programs, overseeing faculty members, fostering a conducive learning environment, and maintaining academic standards within the field of computer Science. The HOD collaborates with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the department's success in delivering high-quality education and research.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement the department's strategic vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the overall mission of the institution.

Lead the development and revision of academic programs, ensuring their relevance, competitiveness, and compliance with accreditation standards.

Identify emerging trends and advancements in the field of computer Science, and integrate them into the department's curriculum and research activities.

Academic Program Management:

Oversee the design, development, and assessment of academic programs within the Faculty of computer Science, ensuring they meet the needs of students and industry expectations.

Collaborate with faculty members to review and update course content, teaching methodologies, and assessment methods to enhance student learning outcomes.

Monitor program enrollment, graduation rates, and student feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.

Faculty and Staff Management:

Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified faculty members, adjunct professors, and support staff, ensuring a diverse and talented team.

Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to faculty members to enhance their teaching, research, and leadership abilities.

Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and facilitate faculty development plans to promote excellence in teaching and scholarly activities.

Research and Scholarship:

Encourage and support faculty members in their research endeavors, fostering a culture of scholarly inquiry and publication within the department.

Promote research collaborations, partnerships, and grant applications to secure external funding and enhance the department's research profile.

Stay informed about emerging research trends and opportunities in economics, and facilitate faculty involvement in relevant conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:

Cultivate relationships with industry professionals, employers, alumni, and community partners to foster internships, job placements, and collaborative research opportunities for students and faculty.

Collaborate with other departments, faculties, and academic institutions to develop interdisciplinary programs, joint degrees, and research initiatives.

Represent the Faculty of computer Science in relevant committees, meetings, and events, both internally and externally, to enhance the department's visibility and reputation.

Quality Assurance and Accreditation:

Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and quality assurance processes, and collaborate with the accreditation bodies for program reviews and assessments.

Monitor and evaluate student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and faculty performance to maintain high academic standards.

Participate in institutional assessment and accreditation processes, contributing to the overall quality improvement of the institution.

Job Requirements:

Master's degree in a relevant field.

3-5 years’ experience in teaching, research, and leadership roles, preferably in a higher education institution.

Strong knowledge and expertise in the field of economics, with a record of scholarly publications and research contributions.

Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty members and staff.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to engage with faculty, students, and stakeholders effectively.

Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards in higher education.

Proficiency in using educational technologies and data analytics to support teaching and learning initiatives.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
