The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat’s (AKAH) goal is that people live in safe, sustainable, and resilient habitats with the opportunity to thrive, whether in a remote mountain village, a town, or a densely populated urban center. It works with communities to help them prepare for and respond to natural disasters and the effects of climate change. AKAH also works to expand access to services and opportunities for people to improve their lives. AKAH helps communities prepare for the worst; provides immediate relief after disaster strikes; and helps build back better -- and greener -- while planning for a better future. AKAH currently operates in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Syria, Pakistan, and India, with plans to expand further in Central Asia as well as East Africa.
The social mobilizer will be doing community mobilization, sensitization, awareness raising, assessments, facilitate community conversations/ meetings and build good relations both at the community and institutional level. They will conduct regular need assessments and household surveys to identify potential beneficiaries and coordinate with local government and communities on project activities. The social mobilizers will be playing a critical role in community gatherings, decision making, community contribution and resolving any conflict and challenges which are coming across in project implementation. The social mobilizers will also play key role in sensitizing communities on winterization project and ensure that community understand the project scope and benefits
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
• Community mobilization through awareness raising, dialogue and community meetings.
• Organization of monthly meetings of communities for planning and implementation of project activities.
• Coordination with relevant stakeholders and proactively communicate any issues that might affect the project implementation and engage community support with guidance from the Project managers.
• Assistance to project supervisors/ managers in preparation and submission of case studies success stories.
• Facilitate meetings with village decision makers at CDC, CLDC and DDA.
• Lead and facilitate the introduction meetings with community and district decision makers.
• Facilitate community awareness process on components of winterization project.
• Conduct needs assessment survey and collect social economic information from target communities using HEAT and RAF forms.
• Identify the most vulnerable beneficiaries for the project using specific criteria which are defined.
• Facilitate all the discussions with community leaders and sensitize communities on the importance of the project activities.
• Collaborate with surveyors in data collection, data entry, validation, and reporting processes.
• Identify proper distribution points in consultation with community members and ensure a smooth relief distribution to the project beneficiaries.
• Able to use online data collection tools including KOBO tools and HEAT form.
• To work closely with community to make them understand about the system and its utility for them.
• Regular reporting about the project implementation process on monthly basis.
• Keep regular contact with the community as well as well local government officials for collecting information and reporting to the supervisor.
• Ensure proper project coordination at village, district, and provincial level.
• Working with communities to sensitize them on active participation on decision making and community contribution in implementation of winterization project.
• Ensure coordinated approach to deliver the winter support packages to the eligible communities.
• Resolving any conflict arising during the implementation and suggesting constructive feedback.

Job Specifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social science, disaster management, economic, community development, political science, and study in similar nature.
Experience: Fresh graduate
Knowledge and skills:
Good knowledge of reading, writing, and speaking in English
• Good knowledge of communication and building relations.
• Understand community concepts and behaviour.
• High flexibility and accept the position challenge.
• High knowledge of reading and writing of Dari.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet the deadlines.
