About Aga Khan Cultural Services - Afghanistan (AKCS-A):

The AKTC was founded in 1988 and is registered in Geneva, Switzerland, as a private, non-denominational, philanthropic foundation. It is an integral part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a family of institutions created by His Highness the Aga Khan, with distinct yet complementary mandates to improve the welfare and prospects of people in countries in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa. AKTC is currently operating in Afghanistan under the name of Aga Khan Cultural Services – Afghanistan (AKCS-A) and is registered with the country's Ministry of Economy.

Part of the wider development programme of the AKDN in Afghanistan, the AKCS-A has since 2002 been engaged in a range of initiatives in Kabul, Heart, Balkh, Badakhshan, Logar, and Ghazni aimed at the conservation and revitalization of historic neighborhoods, the improvement of living conditions and the development of professional and crafts skills.

Job Descriptions:

General Function:

AKCS-A is implementing several projects in Afghanistan aimed at protecting Afghanistan’s tangible/intangible cultural heritage and improving the living conditions of the inhabitants, as part of a broader process of urban revitalization.  Working within a team of Afghan and international professionals, under the direct supervision of the Vocational Training Program Manager or his designate, the Marketing and Job Placement Officer will be involved in a range of marketing, and job placement activities in support of AKCS-A’s vocational training program.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing and Promotions:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote the vocational training programs and attract prospective students.
  • Create and manage content for various marketing channels, including social media, websites, brochures, and newsletters.
  • Coordinate events, workshops, and exhibitions to showcase the skills of trainees and promote AKCS-A’s vocational training programs to potential employers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Develop promotional materials that highlight the success stories of graduates to attract new students and partnerships.

 

Revenue Generations and Sales:

  • Developing pricing strategies and forecasting revenue to ensure sustainable revenue generation.
  • Periodically evaluate the market prices and analyze economic trends to determine competitive prices.
  • Create promotional plans including product exhibitions to increase revenue.
  • Coordinate and conduct short-term training sessions for students on finding the market.

 

Post Job Placement:

  • To attend local and regional Job fairs and employability events and establish good working relationships with local and regional partners and stakeholders.
  • To assist Graduate Students with Job placements, Internships, and mentorships.
  • Source and coordinate the vocational training graduate’s internships, mentorships, and job placement.
  • Assist and coordinate interested graduates in the start of their micro business.
  • To ensure that all work placements are monitored and accurate data and recording mechanisms are in place.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up surveys and maintain the survey database.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, or any other related field. Master’s degree in related field is a plus.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position with national or international organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in administration, operations, and logistics.
  • Have a good understanding and knowledge of Afghan Traditional handicrafts. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent/ Professional Speaking and Writing Skills in English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Good knowledge of computer applications (MS Office Package).
