About Aga Khan Cultural Services - Afghanistan (AKCS-A):

The AKTC was founded in 1988 and is registered in Geneva, Switzerland, as a private, non-denominational, philanthropic foundation. It is an integral part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a family of institutions created by His Highness the Aga Khan, with distinct yet complementary mandates to improve the welfare and prospects of people in countries in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa. AKTC is currently operating in Afghanistan under the name of Aga Khan Cultural Services – Afghanistan (AKCS-A) and is registered with the country's Ministry of Economy.

Part of the wider development programme of the AKDN in Afghanistan, the AKCS-A has since 2002 been engaged in a range of initiatives in Kabul, Heart, Balkh, Badakhshan, Logar, and Ghazni aimed at the conservation and revitalization of historic neighborhoods, the improvement of living conditions and the development of professional and crafts skills.

Job Descriptions:

General Function:

AKCS-A is implementing several projects in Afghanistan aimed at protecting Afghanistan’s tangible/intangible cultural heritage and improving the living conditions of the inhabitants, as part of a broader process of urban revitalization.  Working within a team of Afghan and international professionals, under the direct supervision of the Vocational Training Program Manager or his designate, the Storekeeper will be involved in a range of store and stock management activities in support of AKCS-A’s vocational training program.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, including incoming and outgoing stock.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and ensure the inventory management system is properly maintained.
  • Prepare inventory reports and reconcile any discrepancies.

 

  1. Store Operations:
  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming stock against purchase orders or delivery notes.
  • Organize and store items in appropriate locations, ensuring optimal space utilization and easy retrieval.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of the storage area at all times.

 

  1. Logistics and Distribution:
  • Coordinate with the Vocational Training Program team to ensure timely distribution of materials and supplies to relevant departments.
  • Prepare and maintain records of material requisitions, dispatches, and deliveries.
  • Monitor stock levels and report when reordering is necessary to avoid stockouts.

 

  1. Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure all storage operations are in compliance with AKCS-A’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and reviews, including goods received, stock records, and dispatches.

 

  1. Communication and Coordination:
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to follow up on orders and deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure accurate and timely supply of materials.
  • Report any issues or challenges related to stock management to the Vocational Training Program Manager.

 

  1. Support to Training Programs:
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Vocational Training Program team, including organizing materials for training sessions and workshops.
  • Assist in managing equipment and tools used in various vocational training courses.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in store management or logistics is preferred.
  • 4 years’ experience in managing store duties with NGOs or INGOs.
  • Able to read and write in Dari and/or Pashto
  • Basic level of English for understanding imported materials and equipment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of inventory management practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and experience with inventory management software.
