About Watan Development and Initiative Organization (WDIO):

Watan Development and Initiative Organization (WDIO) was established in 2014 while it was reregistered with the Ministry of Economy on the same date it was established. WDIO was again registered with the government of Afghanistan in 2023 on registration # 3120. It is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and independent organization. The (WDIO) is an initiation of senior Afghan staff, specific professionals from different fields of activities, and other national and international organizations with many years of working experience in Afghanistan's normal and emergency state. The aim of the founders of (WDIO) is to transfer the experiences and expertise from several international organizations to an Afghan organization in order to ensure the sustainability of efforts as well as provide opportunities for Afghans to use their full potential in humanitarian and development activities. WDIO works in partnership with government, development, and implementing partners in the following four fields; Education, Agriculture and livestock, Health, and social affairs. WDIO will try its best to capacitate Afghans and other professionals in the mentioned four fields of services. WDIO is committed to applying a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards acts of sexual exploitation and abuse by its personnel. In 2003, the United Nations Secretary-General issued a Bulletin on “Special measures for protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse” (ST/SGB/2003/13) (“the Bulletin”). To support the system-wide implementation of the zero-tolerance policy, the Director-General has decided to adopt the standards of conduct and provisions on PSEA set by the Bulletin, adjusted as necessary, to be applied by WDIO personnel, as follows.

Job Descriptions:

Purpose:

To run the ASLC the project will hire a qualified teacher. The teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in mathematics, language (Dari, Pashto, English), and essential life skills to students age group 7-9 years old. This role requires Mathematics knowledge, English language, creativity, effective communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ASLC in the designated subject area as per organizational designated locations.
  • Teach ASLC for a minimum of 3.5 hours per day, 6 days per week (Sat-Thu)
  • Ensure qualitative education delivery as per organizational standards.
  • Ensure timely distribution of students materials.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of all materials, supplies, tools and equipment
  • Foster a child-friendly learning environment in the center.
  • Communicate regularly with Program Organizer (PO), and submit report of any concerns.
  • Maintain student attendance, aiming for a minimum average of 93%.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans, and ensure completion of homework assignments.
  • Regularly update and maintain school documents including Tarek-e-Talim, evaluation and attendance registers, visitor register, and stock register.
  • Maintain good relationships with students, parents, and Community Groups.
  • Ensure child protection measures are implemented within the school and raise awareness in the community.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards for mathematics, language (Dari, Pashto, English) and life skill.
  • Integrate life skills into daily lessons to promote practical application and holistic learning.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to participate and excel.
  • Manage classroom activities and behavior effectively to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Design and administer assessments to evaluate students' understanding of mathematics, language, and life skills concepts.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to students to facilitate academic and personal growth.
  • Identify individual including disabled students learning needs and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Offer extra support and tutoring to students who require additional assistance.
  • Collaborate with other teachers (If needed), and parents/guardians to support student development and achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders especially with Community Group regarding students' progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Provide necessary reports to the office regarding classroom activities and student progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings, workshops/training as required.
  • Manage and maintain After School Learning Center.
  • Individual contact with the irregular/absent of ASLC students/parents.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, literature, or a related field.
  • Proven 3 years’ experience as a teacher, preferably in mathematics, English and local languages teaching and life skills education.
  • Fluency in Dari, Pashto and English
  • Strong knowledge of methodologies for teaching mathematics and language.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for education and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve academic and personal success.
  • Have empathy for children specially for disabled and marginalized students.
