About MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA):

MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA) is a branch of MSI, a global, non-profit, and non-governmental organization headquartered in London, UK, and was established in August 2002 after registration with the Government of Afghanistan. MSIA follows the local mission statement of MSI: Improve Afghan women’s health and well-being so that they can, in turn, build strong, healthy families. Our vision is to be the organization that Afghan women seek out for high-quality, client-centered health care provided by women, for women.

We focus on reducing maternal mortality by providing quality and sustainable maternal-child health (MCH) and reproductive health (RH) services and information in 17 provinces of Afghanistan, namely Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Kapisa, Khost, Paktia, and Daikundi, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Afghanistan. 

MSIA strives to enhance women's health outcomes in the aforementioned provinces by delivering vital reproductive and maternal-child health services through multiple channels such as centers, outreaches, the private sector, and MS Ladies (Family Health Houses).

Job Descriptions:

  • Assist in other areas of the IT network as required: monitor/maintain web filtering & security devices, procure equipment.
  • Liaise with external support suppliers to resolve issues as required
  • To undertake any other duties the principal or designated alternate may reasonably direct from time to time within the context of the MSIA contract Out of hours work
  • It will also be expected that in the rare event of unforeseen systems failure, that the successful It officer will work out of hours at short notice to assist or take charge of the recovery of the system(s) affected.
  • IT officer a specific and explicit duty to inform the Senior Management if they are or become concerned that poor or inappropriate practice or procedures threaten the safety or integrity of all or any part of the IT service, software, hardware, or data Staffing
  • To undertake personal development where appropriate.
  • To assist in developing the first line team’s skill set.
  • Reviews vendor contracts and coordinates IT purchases (hardware, software, and services) to ensure effective deployment of solutions aligned with user needs.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long-range IT planning, with an emphasis on advocating for the needs of the area(s) supported; implements tracking and evaluation programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Measures:

  • To ensure support of installed applications assisting in diagnosing software faults to all MSIA staff.
  • To ensure Management and configuration of the MSIA wireless and telephone systems maintained.
  • To ensure perform patch/upgrade testing as part of the college patch management processes.
  • Ensure security of IT infrastructure maintenance/monitoring of antivirus, patching and network monitoring.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications/Knowledge/Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ IT experience
  • Ability to decipher and organize large amounts of data.
  • An analytical mindset with superb communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex problems clearly and in nontechnical terms.
  • Fluency in English and the national languages is must.
  • Experience in the NGO Sector preferred.
