About Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA):

The Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA) is a national non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 1994. The organization was initially registered as NGO with the Ministry of Planning and further registered in February 2006 with Ministry of Economy at NGO Department of the former Islamic Republic of Afghanistan under registration number 377.

The organization is professionally managed by a group of committed and young professional Afghans having multiple years of experience with governmental and non-governmental organization in Afghanistan and abroad.

Beside, WAFA works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. WAFA also has close relation with the Ministry of Justice to empower and facilitate the street children in the light of the applicable laws and procedures. WAFA has extensive experience with IDP’s and returnees by providing them basic education, WASH facilities, hygiene education, Livelihood and health facilities with collaboration of Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation. 

The Organization has a regional coverage through undertaking various Educational (Community Based Education (CBE), Teacher Training, Formal and informal, accelerated learnings, Civic Education,  Awareness Raising (Legal Rights, Advocacy, Women Rights, Child Protection, Support to Electoral Process, Elimination of violation against women, Human Rights, Social Services programs, Water and agricultural programs, Universities Electricity Installation and upgradation, Projects in different sectors for Afghan Refugees/Returnees and local communities in Afghanistan

Job Descriptions:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit and lead project team to plan, implement, and follow up on all project activities, Manage project staff, providing ongoing supervision and guidance.
  2. Ensuring effective and equal provision of services to women and men as per the requirements of the project
  3.  Assist in workshops, awareness events and supporting/mentoring the project team
  4. Provide direct technical assistance as practical and according to areas of expertise.
  5. Ensure that project reporting requirements are met. Oversee data collection and prepare periodic monthly & quarterly reports narrative on project activities.
  6. Work actively in collaboration with the project stakeholders & beneficiaries in the target area
  7.  Establish and strengthen effective relationships and communication with provincial government departments and other stake holders.
  8. Ensure that gender sensitization and awareness have been incorporated in various kinds of services, workshops & awareness events
  9.  Participate in the development of work plans/Action Plans.
  10. Participate in promoting the exchange of project information with then the area or with the stakeholders as per the project scope of working.
  11.  Participation in the weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings of government relevant directorates or on public level when needed.
  12. Develope monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  13.  Keep informed of Civil Society issues and developments in Afghanistan.
  14. Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Program Director.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • University degree in management or development fields strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of progressively more responsible work experience, including at least three years working in an NGO. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects.
  • Facilitation, consulting, and/or training experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including diplomacy, tact, and the ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Proven ability to mentor and build skills of staff.
  • Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Advanced English language ability.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability is highly required
  • Ability to work as creative team leader an self-starter ..
  • Professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
