Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

The PSS / Training officer will also be responsible for providing technical support and capacity building to psychosocial teams in the field in collaboration with Site Manager and organize project related trainings and maintain close relationship with relevant stakeholders  such  as  community,  camps/settlements,  district  and  provincial

authorities, UN agencies and Clusters, INGOs and NGOs. S/he also support the field

team developing weekly and monthly planning, progress reporting and resolve problems in the field.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, and supervision of protection/Psychosocial activities in the field, supervise MHPSS Centers to ensure that all planned activities are carried out timely.
  • Ensure that the protection/PSS activities are implemented following standard procedures and sensitivity to avoid negative impact in the field.
  • Collect progress updates for the field team, prepare biweekly, monthly and quarterly reports on time and submit to line manager.
  • Work closely with logistic and security department and ensure necessary logistical/administrative and security processes and protocols for the field team.
  • Represents International Medical Corps and the PSS project component at local and provincial level in coordination with line manager; attend meetings, sharing information and providing feedback when requested.
  • Actively participate in protection/PSS working groups and contribute in
  • Supervise, support, and guide the field staff and other project staff such as training officer and Staff in the province to ensure project objectives are met, to improve program quality, cultural appropriateness and adheres organizational policies and procedures, donor requirements and host government guidelines.
  • Manage data collection tools.
  • Assist in establishing PSS support Referral network among other relevant actors
  • Establish and support working groups in the province and conduct regular meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies.
  • Consider security implications of all program activities, review all new initiatives with national staff and community leaders.
  • Perform other duties as requested to oversee the implementation of quality PSS intervention and response activities,
  • Support Site Manager for training.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Graduation degree from a recognized University of social work, psychology medicine or related institutions.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Excel and internet is required.
  • Communication skills and strong local language correspondence skills. Particularly in fluency in English, Dari and Pashtu speaking /writing skills are required.
  • Ability to write logical, clear and concise reports.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in Protection/PSS field in similar roles in governmental or non- governmental organizations.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating training on PSS related topics.

Competency:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management and planning skills
  • Has experience and the ability to collaborate and work as part of a team and to foster team spirit
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Word and Excel)
  • Belief in and understanding of gender equality, women’s rights, and empowerment
  • Experience working with displaced population
  • Experience facilitating trainings preferred
  • Ability to work as a member of a team essential.

Fluency in written and spoken English, Dari and Pashto is desirable
