Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. AFGA is a fully accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and an important partner of UNFPA.

A committed team of more than 600 experts are working in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to achieve AFGA goals and objectives. AFGA provides health services to the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities through over 140 service delivery points.  

About Hospital:

AFGA is in the process of establishment of a 20-bed hospital in Kabul, aimed at providing quality Reproductive Health services to mothers and newborns. The hospital will be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, facilities and staffed by experts.

As part of a long-term development plan, hospital services will continuously expand, serving as the central hub for AFGA outreach and small Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to refer patients needing advanced care. The hospital will adhere to national and international standards for patient safety and quality service, ensuring it meets the needs of target communities.

 

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The Health Management Information System Officer (HMIS) is responsible to collect, organize, control and follow up hospital HMIS activities. Strengthening skills of the staff involved in HMIS and keep close co-operation with M&E department of AFGA and HMIS department of MoPH as well as the related departments.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Within four weeks of joining, she shall develop an action plan for implementation in accordance with rules and regulations for better quality services delivery and also a work plan in agreement with her supervisor.
  • Ensure update HMIS software is functional and used properly at the field office.
  • To record, compile, analyze and interpret health data and information
  • To provide up dated HMIS forms for the hospital
  • In co-operation with the hospital’s medical direct/ director oversee the planning and conducting training, which relates to HMIS
  • To supervise hospitals’ HMIS activities and give proper feedback to related staff
  • Training of all hospital staff regarding filling HMIS forms and HMIS case definitions
  • Ensure and maintain the flow of information to main office and related departments.
  • Ensure proper utilization of HMIS tools.
  • Attend Co-ordination meetings when needed in the main office/MoPH.
  • Provide accurate and updated feedback on data collections to the related departments/ staff
  • Provide HMIS monthly, quarterly & annual reports
  • Provide guidance and support to the project staff in HMIS related tasks
  • Enhance ability of project staff in HMIS related tasks, and on data quality standards and best practices by conducting workshops, on-the-job training and through other means.
  • Support staff capacity building initiatives related to medical record documentation, data collection, and HMIS utilization.
  • Assist the hospital team and project manager in development of the program activity /progress reports
  • Other tasks requested by supervisors
  • Respect all rules and regulations of the AFGA and adhere safeguarding policy
  • She will report to hospital director and HMIS/M&E department and project coordinator

Job Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor Degree from a recognized University.
  • At least two years of working experience in supervising/monitoring of health program activities.
  • 2-3 years’ work experience and skill in health management information system, medical record management or similar position.
  • Familiarity with HMIS platforms and data management principle.
  • Effective Communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent Speaking, writing and reading Dari, Pashto and English
  • Familiar with MS Office applications (Word, Excel and power point, Internet and HMIS software, and DHIS2 data flatforms).
  • Ability to work independently self-motivated and organizes its own time and work independently.
  • Good team player
  • Multi –tasking skills and ability to work under pressure.
