Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. A committed team of more than 600 experts are working in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to achieve AFGA goals and objectives. AFGA provides health services to the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities through over 140 service delivery points.  

About Hospital:

AFGA is in the process of establishment of a 20-bed hospital in Kabul, aimed at providing quality Reproductive Health services to mothers and newborns. The hospital will be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, facilities and staffed by experts.

As part of a long-term development plan, hospital services will continuously expand, serving as the central hub for AFGA outreach and small Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to refer patients needing advanced care. The hospital will adhere to national and international standards for patient safety and quality service, ensuring it meets the needs of target communities.

Job Descriptions:

Summary of the job:

Psychosocial Counselor is responsible for providing of psychosocial services to the clients of hospital. In addition to the specific duties outlined below, the psychosocial counselor will provide support to all pregnant women during pregnancy and after the child delivery

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessment of patients for psychosocial issues and provide counseling services to the clients
  • Utilizing appropriate protocols and guidelines of MoPH
  • Conduct open awareness-raising session to the clients
  • Conduct regular follow up of cases registered
  • Provide individual/group counseling session to the clients
  • Develop and implement individualized psychosocial care plans in collaboration with the hospital healthcare team.
  • Organize awareness session on stress management and other related issues for the clients
  • Keep daily record in a confidential and safe manner
  • Prepare daily and monthly report to supervisor
  • Ensure high quality of psychosocial services for clients in the hospital
  • Respect all rules and regulations of the AFGA and adhere safeguarding policy
  • She will report to the gynecology chief.

Job Requirements:

  • Should be graduated from Faculty of Psychology, Counselling Department
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in related field
  • Able to prepare guideline for psychosocial counseling
  • Able to train staff for psychosocial counseling
  • Able to speak/write in Pashto and Dari with clarity and ease and should have the ability to know English
  • Strong in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Cooperative and helpful attitude and willingness to work outside normal business hours as needed
