Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. AFGA is a fully accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and an important partner of UNFPA.

A committed team of more than 600 experts are working in 11 provinces of Afghanistan to achieve AFGA goals and objectives. AFGA provides health services to the most vulnerable and hard to reach communities through over 140 service delivery points.  

About Hospital:

AFGA is in the process of establishment of a 20-bed hospital in Kabul, aimed at providing quality Reproductive Health services to mothers and newborns. The hospital will be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, facilities and staffed by experts.

As part of a long-term development plan, hospital services will continuously expand, serving as the central hub for AFGA outreach and small Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to refer patients needing advanced care. The hospital will adhere to national and international standards for patient safety and quality service, ensuring it meets the needs of target communities.

Job Descriptions:

Summary of the job:

She will be responsible for OPD client’s examination as well as responsible for the patients in emergency ward.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive gynecological care to female patients, including routine preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of gynecological conditions, and management of obstetric cases.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results.
  • Conduct proper physical examinations of patients including pelvic and breast examinations
  • Perform routine office-based obstetric and gynecological procedures such as hysterectomies, oophorectomies, D&Cs, and other pelvic surgeries including IUDs, etc.
  • Establish and follow standards of care for common women’s health-related issues and illnesses, especially antenatal and postnatal care, and provide family planning services.
  • Provide counseling and Education to patients and women on family planning, reproductive health and menopause issues.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical evidence-based guidelines while treating patients all the time.
  • Identify and manage gynecological emergencies and complications
  • Determine and implement appropriate types and courses of treatment
  • Perform standard ultrasound examinations and produce related reports 
  •  Perform and interpret various diagnostic tests including STD tests.
  • Educate patients about disease prevention, detection (malignancies of reproductive organs), and reproductive health
  •  Be able to work as a primary care doctor (general physician) when needed /dealing with a wide range of patients
  • Have the ability to develop positive rapport with patients and families to foster the physician/patient relationship
  • Eager to actively participate in continuing internal medical capacity building program inside the clinic / delivers case presentations and raise medical discussions.
  • Take care of medical equipment assigned to in the clinic including non-medical such as Computer, desk, chair and ensure their proper usage
  • Respect all rules and regulations of the AFGA and adhere safeguarding policy.
  • Make all necessary efforts to stay updated with the emerging medical/Obstetric knowledge and skills
  • Perform any other job given be hospital leadership

  • She will report to chief of gynecology

Job Requirements:

  • Holding MD degree from a recognized university
  • Specialty in Gyn/Obs
  • 3-5 years of work experience practicing as an OB/GYN
  • Should have strong clinical, diagnostic, and surgical procedural skills in gynecology.
  • Should know English, Dari and Pashto
  • Should have the collaborative skill of working in a team.
  • Should have effective communication and interpersonal skill.
