Job Descriptions:

Major Duties and Responsibilities

To provide special education training in Sign Language and lip reading for School Teachers, Special Education Teachers at Preparatory education (PERCs, VPECs & HBE new approach), Inclusive Education Resource Persons, and CBR Workers.

Collect, design, produce and update appropriate special education training materials in sign language for all categories of trainees, however in coordination with special education officer.

Provide technical support and on job training in special education to Disability Project Special Education Teachers (SET), and CBR Workers.

Select appropriate and useful methods of training at different levels of children with special needs based on the children’s assessment,

Ensure the implementation and consideration of PERCS and VPECs Guidelines in designing of teaching materials, students’ classification and selection of teaching methodology.

Compile and keep a copy of all training material, plans, schedules prepared and conducted within the project and provide the Special Education Officer with accurate and up-to-date information in this regard monthly.

Work to ensure that the Program incorporates M&E results and lessons learnt from field operations to improve and develop program implementation strategies, methodologies, and results

Collect and disseminate good practice regarding special education on a local, national and international level

Monthly, quarterly and annual report preparation and submission to SEO.

Job Requirements:

Language requirements, if any

 Fluent in Dari, Pashto and sign Language and lip reading

Qualifications Required

Having technical education and skills in sign language and lip reading and bachelor’s degree is given preference.

Familiarity with pedagogical methods tailored for teaching sign language.

Work Experience

3-4 years’ experience in teaching children with special needs, especially within an NGO or similar organization,

Having full command of Braille (Visually Impaired)

Understand different teaching methodologies for teaching children with Special Needs

Skills
